Chapter 30

"Okay look Anthony Ima tell you this like the man I am." jaden said.

I looked at him shocked and he just shook his head. "I'm tired of holding it in Chanel. The boy gotta know sooner than later."

"Jaden he's not ready." I said.

"Not ready for what?" Anthony asked.

"Your dad is dead." Jaden said.

"Jaden!" I yelled slamming my fork down.

"Wh-what?" Anthony said, stopping and staring.

"Anthony baby I-"

"Stop trying to smooth talk him Chanel! He needs to know!" Jaden said a little pissed.

"He's a little boy dammit! Have some sympathy! You wouldn't want no damn stranger telling you yo daddy died would you?!"

He just looked down and ate his grits.

"What is he talking about Chanel?" Anthony asked.

I sighed.

"Was he lying?" He asked again.

Jaden looked at me. "No.." I said, my voice cracking a bit. "He um-was telling the truth honey."

His mouth opened wide and tears fell down his cheeks. He started balling his face off. "MY DADDY!" He screamed. "WHAT YALL DO TO MY DADDY!" He fell out the chair and cried on the floor.

The loudness caused Jayda to start balling as well.

"Oh my gosh." I got up quickly and lifted Anthony off the floor cradling him while Jaden picked up Jayda.

He sniffed. "How did he die?"

I swallowed hard and looked at Jaden.

"Someone killed him." Jaden said.

"Who?!" He got angry. "Who killed my daddy?!!" He cried even more.

It was so heartbreaking to me. Anthony was really close to Antonio. And Jaden was showing no sympathy at all which made me so angry.

"Chanel." he looked up at me. "Do you know who killed him?"

I looked at jaden and he shook his head. "Just tell him."

"You want me to tell him?" I asked seriously.

"Yeah. He'll understand."

I took a deep breath. This was more weight on my shoulders than I thought it would be. "Well...sort of." I said combing my fingers through his hair.

"Who?" He asked. "Who would wanna kill my daddy?"

"Honey, your father wasn't always a good guy. He had a bad side. And some people didn't like that. He was mean when he wanted to be."

He looked down. "He wasn't mean to me." More tears fell down his face.

"I know baby." I grabbed his chin. "Because he loved you a lot."

"But look, your daddy knew jaden. And he didn't like jaden because me and Jaden are married. So..." I swallowed a lump in my throat. "He tried to kill him...and so Jaden..had to do it first."

Anthony raised up out my hands so quick and gasped. "HE KILLED HIM?!" He pointed to jaden.

I nodded slowly with tears falling down my face.
