What else could I possibly do besides prevent Damon from buying an engagement ring? Sit at home in my room sulking about how my brother got the girl? I think not. I flung my jacket over my shoulders and slammed the door behind me aggressively, hopping into the car. I was pretty certain of the jewellers Damon would go to first, so that was exactly where I headed. Down the road, to the left and into town. Bingo. I somehow spotted my brother and Alaric in the clear window, checking out all the different types of rings. I hopped out the parked car and walked quickly to the shop, the join them both. I patted them both on the shoulders.

"Boys." I greeted them with a fake smile, they turned to face me and grinned back.

"Hey, you came to join the ring hunt? I thought you were on Elena occupation duty." Damon pointed out, annoyingly. I hesitated.

"Oh yeah, well I told Jeremy to take my place whilst I came and helped you two." I lied through my teeth. they both nodded and Alaric shrugged.

"We were thinking," Damon lead me to the other end of the window and pointed at the pretty little silver ring, "this one. It's not too over the top, just right and of course it's one of the most expensive rings they have in the window." He shrugged and walked into the shop, straight to the counter. "Hi, we've seen a ring we like in the window."

"Of course, show me which one." The shop keeper replied, grabbing a set of keys and following Damon to the window's counter.

"That one down there." Damon poked the glass enthusiastically. The shop keeper followed his finger and stuck his key in the lock, opening the door and retrieving the tiny ring.

"In what size would like it, sir? These are the sizes that are available at the moment." The shop keeper handed him a tiny piece of paper, Alaric strolled over to join him.

Alaric pointed at a certain part of the paper, "that's her size. I'm pretty sure of it." The shop keeper peeked over his shoulder.

"Okay, I'll quickly go and get that ready and boxed up for you." He smiled, heading into the back of the shop. I quickly followed him, whilst Alaric and Damon were distracted and looking at other rings in the window. Slowly, I followed the shop keeper round a corner as he unlocked a door which contained all the rings in the shop.

"Hey." I called, he turned around. Shocked that I was following him.

"I'm sorry sir, you're not aloud back here. If you wait by the counter I'll ready to serve you in a seco-" I soon found myself cutting of his breathing, holding him in the air and against a wall by his throat. I put my compulsion into full swing.

"All you remember is coming into the ring storage room and finding there are no more rings in the specific size that the two gentlemen out there want. In fact, you seem to be out of every ring in that size. You don't remember anything else, I was never back here with you." I told him, setting him gently down on the ground again. He readjusted his tie and headed back out to break the news to Damon and Alaric.

"I'm sorry, I seem to have misread the sizes. It seems we do not have that ring size in stock."

"The ring in the window looks about the right size." Alaric commented, turning back to the window. Damon turned around to look as well.

"Yeah, it looks close enough." My eyes bulged slightly, they always found a blooming loophole.

"Okay, I'll get that wrapped up and boxed for you two right away." He smiled, unlocking the same door again. I shifted on my feet, I couldn't stop it now. Could I really steal the ring when Damon  bought it home? Surely it would remain in his jacket pocket twenty four seven until he proposed. Damon followed the man over to the counter and got out his wallet to pay. That surprised me, I thought he'd at least try and bribe the guy, or compel him. He really was trying, I had to applaud him for that.
