Damon's P.O.V
I stood a rough five metres away from the new startled vampire. Elena was digging her nails into the cushion she was clinging to. I chuckled quietly to myself at the thought that she might be picturing that cushion as Stefan as she attempted to squeeze the life out of it.
I suddenly felt Alaric's gaze on me, I immediately stopped my laughter and set my expression to seriousness. I could feel the anger start to bubble up inside of me again as my eyes laid on Stefan.
His forest green eyes were perfectly yet guiltily locked to Elena's. She looked so petit and helpless as she sat gingerly on the edge of the couch. Her cheeks damp with tears as her eyes flicked from her gaze with Stefan to a complete blank, staring into space. I knew exactly what was happening, she was thinking over everything that was about to change; her relationships with Jeremy, Caroline, Bonnie, Stefan, Ric, Matt... Me. Her emotions were to be heightened, her speed, strength, it was all about to change. Her whole life was shifting right in front of my eyes as I was about to whitness the undefeatable Elena Gilbert fall a part. I had been close to seeing this about a year or two earlier, when Klaus was determined to break the hybrid curse.
-Flashback to that time-
(Will be different to the show)
Stefan stormed into the living room, his anger bubbled to the brim. The cause of this was my stupid, yet understandable act. Could he not see that what I had done was the right thing to do? Stefan was battered and bruised, a dark red stain surrounding a small hole in his shirt. We had had a... Fight. He walked a little closer to me and perched himself on the edge of the couch's armrest, his mouth lingered open for a few seconds before he spoke.
"Why?" He began, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. "You've ruined her entire life, Damon." Stefan couldn't even look me in the eyes. But yet, I still stood sternly defending what I believed was the right thing to do about the situation Elena was stuck in.
I rolled my eyes and walked over to where he sat. "What life? Stefan, she has no choice but to obey Klaus and his orders right now. We both know she's going to die. She might as well die with my blood in her system, that way we will never lose her again." I spat, my eyes bulged at him. Stefan laughed quickly to himself, his eyes then shot to me as he sprang up to meet my angered gaze.
"You've taken away the tiniest piece of happiness she had left!" He retaliated.
"Me? No, no, no. You. You did that, if you never walked into her life then her happiness would've remained intact. You slowly sucked the life out of her. She doesn't need this! But this all started with you, and if I hadn't done what I did then it would've ended with you trying to save her thus getting yourself killed in the process, brother. Am I the only one with my head screwed on straight around here? I can see sense, that's why I did what I did. And I don't regret it one damn bit."
Stefan glared at me before pushing past me and storming back out the room.
"She's going to hate you forever." A moral British voice cooed from behind me. Of course.
"Stay out of this, Elijah." I warned. I could hear his silent foot steps tap closer to me.
"You and your brother may not see eye to eye, but deep down you know that I am right. You may have saved Elena for now, but when she awakens... Her heightened emotions will never stop hating you." His silk like voice was now booming in my ear. I span around to face the oldest original sibling.
"What makes you so certain?"
"I have not known Elena for a long time, but I do know one thing. She is completely different to Katherine Pierce, yet slightly similar to my Katerina. But when I look at Elena, I see someone who will never change. Unless someone powerful enough to do so decides so. I think you know that person I am talking about." His accent added more dramatic impact to his meaningful speech.
