Elena's P.O.V

I was confused, what was Damon planning? He was the most unpredictable person I knew on the entire planet, I couldn't see whatever he was planning, coming. I guess it would be better if I just let Damon be Damon, I wasn't going to try and figure this out.

"Did you sort it out? Are you going to his?" I heard Jeremy call from the bottom of the stairs.

"Yes and no, I think we're fine. He has a surprise for me, he's picking me up tomorrow and taking me somewhere." I explained, slamming the door of the mini fridge to check it swung right. Jeremy was silent for about thirty seconds before he started the conversation up again.

"Oooooh! Cute!" I heard Alaric shout, I started to laugh as I swung my hair around my shoulders whilst running down the stairs.

"That's not fair!" I replied, still laughing. "I think I've got the fridge set up and everything." I decided to change the conversation. Jeremy nodded, admiring my handiness skills.

"Cool, good for you. I'll check it in a bit. But don't think you're skipping this conversation!" Alaric laughed at my failed attempt.

"So, where do you think he'll take you?" Jeremy asked me curiously. I couldn't help but laugh again.

"Um, guys no offence but I'd be having this talk with Bonnie and Caroline! Not you two!" I exploded with laughter again, collapsing on the floor as they both attempted to ask like my two best friends.

Bonnie's P.O.V

The last day or two had been pretty calm for me, I'd been at home with my Dad and texting Jeremy every now and again. My life was pretty much normal at this moment in time and I knew I should not take it for granted giving the type of friends I had; vampires, werewolves, hunters... And well, I was a witch. the doorbell rang suddenly, I groaned into my pillow miserably. Something had to ruin my lazy day, didn't it?

"Bonnie!" Caroline sang, oh great. I was tired, I'd had a late night, the last thing I needed was perky Caroline Forbes ringing my doorbell.

"Just a sec, Care!" I yelled, getting up and sliding off of my bed. I flung on some random clothes that probably didn't match and went to answer the door. Caroline was grinning, with her hands behind her back... Holding something? Her grin suddenly wiped clean off of her face.

"You look... Tired." She struggled to find the right words, to avoid hurting my feelings.

"Thanks. What's behind your back?" I asked, moving a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Oh, well... We all feel so terrible about this but-"

"We?" I cut her off.

"Yes, as in me, Elena, Stefan, Jeremy, Matt, Tyler, Alaric and even Damon. We feel awful that we missed your birthday..." She trailed off in shame. My eyes widened, they hadn't missed my birthday, they'd forgotten. "And well, we all decided to chip in and buy you this." Caroline swung her armsa over her chest to reveal and pet carrier box. They hadn't... Had they?

"A cat?" I asked, curiously peeking into the cage door. Caroline nodded happily.

"Why didn't you tell us we'd missed your birthday?" Caroline asked, confused.

"Well, with everything going on at that time. My birthday was hardly the most important thing. And then Stefan died and... Well he was definitely more important and I figured everyone would be happier if he was around again. So by the time he was back and his emotions were back too... I just, well my birthday was way in the past and over and done with. So I never  bought it up again." I explained Caroline's curls bounced as she nodded along with my explanation.
