I felt like I'd been hit with a ton of bricks, shattered and broken like a piece of glass as I held Elena's lifeless body in my shaky arms.
"Damon... Oh my God..." I muttered under my breath, I'd nearly killed him too... I immediately scooped up Elena in my arms and laid her gently onto the couch, stroking her face and moving a lock of hair back into place before vampire speeding to the basement for a blood bag. I ripped off the cap and opened the cell to Damon's door. He had collapsed on the floor, lying on his front. To the side of him was a drained blood bag, ripped to pieces. I'd remembered that I threw in an already drained bag, that must be it, he'd completely sucked the remainings dry.
"Damon." I ran over to him, lightly whacking his face. "Damon, hey. Wake up." I tapped him again before placing the blood bag to his slightly parted mouth. Slowly his eyes started to twitch, then flutter as they opened, his ice blue eyes full of anger as he tried to snatch the bag off of me and get to the other side of the room. I kindly let go of the bag, raising my hands in line with my head. "Damon, I'm not going to hurt you. You need to get your strength back." Suddenly Damon's, fulfilled with blood, eyes snapped back to face me. He slowly pulled the bag away from his mouth, shock and joy plastered all over his face.
"Stefan?" He nearly whispered, unsure of whether I'd turned my emotions back on or not.
"Yes, Damon. I'm back." I grinned, Damon copied my grin, getting up to pull me into a brotherly hug. Suddenly his happy expression snapped to confusion.
"How did it happen? What did you do? How did they come back on?" He threw a bunch of questions at me. I knew his overjoyed emotions would soon fade away once I told him about the source of my emotions coming back: Elena.
Alaric's P.O.V
"Is Elena going to be okay?" Caroline asked me as she sat shakily in the passengers seat, her knees bought up to her chest as she rest her head lightly on the seat belt strapped over her shoulder. I glanced at her quickly before turning my attention back to the road pouring itself out infront of me, we were almost home.
I nodded, "of course she will, she can handle herself. Not much could happen to her in the five minutes we're gone. I saw Caroline readjust herself on the seat, her left knee slipping back onto the floor as she did so, she then decided to remove her other foot and get comfier on the seat.
"Yeah, but surely I could've taken the girls to yours?" She suggested, nearly making me kick myself. Caroline could've helped herself to one of the Salvatore's blood bag stashes and driven them home. Why didn't I think of that? Why had she only just thought of that? "Sorry... Shouldn't have mentioned that..." She turned to face out the window, not saying another word until a mumbled 'thank you' as I dropped her, Sky and Lacey of at the Gilbert house.
I speedily turned off the drive and back to the house, my hands gripped sternly to the steering wheel like I was in an action movie. A small grin on my face as I ignored all the polo mouthed people I'd speeded past on the road, I could get there within three minutes if I kept my speed. I did a risky turn at the end of Elena's road, now entering Damon's, racing like a mad man I made my way down the long turning road. Why did the Salvatore's have to live right at the end of the road? A dead end, too. Their home was pretty tucked away from all the others down the street, almost on to a new road when you turned down into their drive. I eventually made it with a record time, and a minute or too to spare. I didn't dare to waste those two minutes, though. I raced to the front door, pressing the bell about fifty times until Stefan answered. Elena had done it? Stefan looked a little emotional, I could see it in his eyes that something was wrong.
"Stefan?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at whether he was Mr. Ripper or the good guy again. His eyes softened as we exchanged glances.
"I'm so sorry Ric, for everything..." He mumbled, tilting his down to look at his shoes. I narrowed my eyes in confusion at him, he was back... but what had he done to me? Hurt my best friend? Was that why he was apologizing?
"Stefan, it's fine. As long as Damon's okay now it-" I was cut off by Stefan's silent hand, raising in mid air to shut me up. He slowly started to shake his head, a single tear escaping from his eye.
"No, Ric... It's Elena." He stuttered, stepping away from the door frame, leaving my only view Elena lying motionless on the couch. I immediately ran inside, straight to the couch she was flopped out on. "It was an a-accident... I don't... I don't know what e-else to say, I-I-I don't know what I was doing... Emotionless me really took over..." This time I rose my hand to shut him up, I moved a strand of Elena's hair off of her cheek. I placed my shaky hand to her throat, my two fingers gently and soft against her skin as I timidly felt for a beat. I started to notice her neck wasn't in the right place, has Stefan broken Elena's neck? I quickly snapped my head around to face him, more tears escaping his broken-looking eyes.
"Stefan..." Was all that managed to escape my mouth, I was lost for words. I could feel my tongue stuttering as I tried to continue, but I couldn't... suddenly I snapped, turning my head to Stefan. "She has vampire blood in her system! What do you think Jeremy will do when he finds out? And Damon? Stefan what the hell have you done!"
"Ric? Is that you?" Damon shouted, making his way up the stairs. As soon as he entered the tense room he grinned at me before turning to face Stefan. "What were you going to tell me before my drinking buddy here went berserk beating up our d-" Damon stopped in mid-sentence as he noticed the lifeless girl he loved lying dead on the couch. He vampire sped straight to her, kneeling down and biting his wrist without a second thought, he placed it to her mouth. Almost immediately, the red liquid Damon was trying to fed her started to pour down the side of her perfect face and into her hair. Damon tried to open her mouth and place his wrist back to it, but the blood only pooled in her mouth and dripped out down her chin again.
"Damon, stop..." Stefan muttered, closing his eyes briefly to avoid catching Damon's gaze as he turned, exploding with anger.
"What did you do?!" He spat, storming over to his younger brother. Stefan gazed down at the floor this time, his brother giving him a shove and tilting his chin up to look him in the eye as he continued to lecture him with his sharp tongue. "What. Did. You. Do. To. Her?" He tried to calm himself down again, failing miserably. He looked at me, then to Elena, then back to Stefan. He lifted his arm and threw his fist straight into Stefan's face at full blast, causing Stefan to fall backwards onto the floor, clenching his poor painful face. "TELL ME!" Damon yelled at the top of his lungs, I immediately, yet timidly, took a step forwards, stepping in the middle of the fighting brothers.
"Damon, calm down. Stefan had his emotions off and-"
"And that's supposed to make everything okay?"
"No, of course not. I'm just saying, it wasn't exactly Stefan who did this, was it?" I raised my eyebrows at him to emphasize what I was saying to him, he stopped speaking, no reply... Nothing. His eyes flicked ever so slightly to the left of me as if he was listening to whatever was behind me. I gave him a confused look, he didn't turn his attention to me so I turned my attention to what was behind me: Elena.
Almost as if Damon could tell when it was going to happen, a sudden gasp escaped her lips as she bolted up right clinging to the couch cushion she was sitting on.
