Elena's P.O.V
I was awaken by the buzzing of the home phone, lifting my head from pillow I whacked the answer phone button... I was too tired, and needed to nurse my hangover. I familiar voice sprung up from the phone.
"Hey, Elena. It's Jeremy. So I think you've noticed by now that me and Ric and home. Well we spent nearly all day yesterday looking for that fridge you wanted. And well we couldn't find any... So we headed out of town and managed to find one, finally. We then went out for dinner, figuring out you had probably already fed yourself and-"
"Make sure you mention my friend." I heard Alaric whisper in the background, I started to smile to myself.
"Yes, okay. Well it was getting pretty late and Alaric was too fueled up on alcohol to drive back. And I didn't want to because I was too tired. Luckily, Ric bumped into an old friend and we stayed the night there. So... We'll be home in about ten or fifteen minutes? Okay by-" The answer machine was cut off. I sighed happily and stretched my arms, bring round on either side of my body... Until I hit someone. I turned my head to find I had hit someone in the head, a certain brown haired Salvatore. Stefan.
"Crap..." I quickly gathered the bed covers and bought them up to my chest, I was fully clothed which was good. I heard a little sigh from Stefan as his eyes flung open slowly.
"Elena?" He said confused. I gave him a small smile.
"Hi... Quick question, um what happened last night?" I ran my fingers through my hair. Stefan sat up in my bed.
"Not sure... I remember a kiss." My eyes suddenly widened a little, this couldn't be happening.
"Did we...?" I glanced around the bed, trying to give him a hint.
"No. I don't think so. I doubt it, I guess we just fell asleep in your bed. Nothing more." He explained, I felt myself relax a little. Thank god.
"Well... Ric and Jer will be home soon. So you need to... Um go." I tried to put it as nicely as I could, but I felt like I wasn't succeeding. Stefan nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I know what you mean." He gave me a small smile, I tried to return it but felt I was failing miserably. Stefan slipped his clothes on and hopped out the door, scurrying all the way down to the front door. He turned to say goodbye before leaving.
"Stefan... Can we just, not mention this to anyone?" I stared down at my feet. "It was a drunken mistake, I don't... I can't do that to Damon." I heard him sigh.
"Sure, I understand." He placed his strong hand on my cheek, making its way to my chin. "Goodbye, Elena."
As soon as Stefan was gone and I was alone in the house, guilt hit me like a bus. What the hell had I done? I'd kissed Stefan, neither of us had any idea if it had gone any further. So I could have possibly slept with Damon's younger brother. I was an idiot. I knew no one would ever find out, I trusted Stefan. I knew he wouldn't want to ruin mine and Damon's relationship. And I knew I couldn't tell anyone, not even Bonnie... Especially not Caroline. I couldn't trust that girl to look after a plant, let alone a secret like this one.
I sat on the bottom step with my knees bought up to my chest until I heard two car doors slam shut. Jeremy and Alaric were finally home, after the longest fifteen or so minutes of my life. They sooner or later came through the front door with two grins and a large box being carried by Jeremy.
"Hey, miss us?" Alaric winked, Jeremy attempted to rest the big bow on his knee long enough for him wave. He looked silly trying... I shrugged.
"Meh." I replied sarcastically, sticking out my tongue after Alaric pretended to look upset, he then grinned at me and stuck out his tongue in return.
