"Please tell me where we're going?" Elena sulked sarcastically. I laughed to myself as I caught the sight of her puppy eyes in the corner of my eye as I continued to drive. Elena leaned forward and pressed her nose against my right cheek, "pleaaaaaase?" I shook my head stubbornly.
"We're nearly there, like a minute or two. Be patient." I hissed playfully, trying to shut my girlfriend up. Elena bit her lip and leaned back in her seat, facing the window and watching as the number of trees gradually started to build up. Elena quickly turned back to me, I think she knew where we were going.
"The woods?" She asked, unenthusiastic. I nodded, Elena rolled her eyes in disappointment.
"Don't worry, you're going to enjoy this." I replied, I saw Elena start to glow again as soon as I'd found an appropriate place to park. I hopped out and vampire sped round the car before even giving Elena a chance to get out the car by herself. "M'lady." I grinned as I took her hand. She grinned at me as she hopped out the car. I closed the door and opened the one of the back doors.
"What are you doing?" Elena asked as she tried to look over what I was doing as I bent down into the car and retrieved a picnic basket. I got out and locked the car shut, revealing the basket. Elena started to laugh, I got out a blood bag and waved it in her face.
"Care for a picnic with me?" I asked her, she only started to laugh more.
"Of course, Mr Salvatore." She held the hem of her dress and gave me a small curtsy before taking the blood bag from my hands. "I'll carry the blanket!" Elena quickly opened the basket and whipped out the neatly folded blanket and tucking it under her arm.
"I'll lead the way." I announced and grabbed her free hand, guiding her into the woods.

"So..." Elena broke the silence as we trudged through the woods. "What was up with you the other day..? You seemed... Off."
Dammit, I knew this was coming. "I just... Don't think Caroline and Tyler are ready for a big commitment" I explained. Elena suddenly stopped and stared at me. "What?" I turned around and asked.
"That wasn't the problem , Damon. The problem was you didn't want to marry me and now you're making is about Caroline and Tyler." She snapped.
"Elena, not now please. We're trying to have a nice day." I told her, walking up to her and grabbed her free hand again. "Promise me that this will be the only tiff we're having today."
Elena nodded and squeezed my hand a little tighter, "I promise. Sorry for bringing it up."
"We're nearly here, by the way."
The rest of our walk to the open field was a little awkward and quiet, but I knew the atmosphere would be completely different as soon as we got there.
Elena's P.O.V
I was super nervous. I had no idea why. Damon lead me into a small opening, a field type place that I had no idea even existed in these woods. He hadn't even looked at me since our little tiff in the middle of the woods, until now. He turned to gaze at my expression as I became exposed to the beautiful field before me. Reds, yellows, greens and violets filled my eyes, I couldn't stop staring and I didn't even dare to blink in fear that this was all a dream and in my head. Finally, I forced myself to blink, realizing everything was in fact real. I even pinched myself a little to be one hundred per cent sure.
"Oh, Damon..." I whispered, but he soon placed his cold finger upon my lips.
"Shhh..." He hushed carefully in my ear as his lips made and found their way to my own. We shared passionate kiss at the edge of the field before he pulled away and lead me to a small shaded place under the big oak tree towering in the middle of the field. I quickly laid out the blanket with a big flick of my wrists and a whoosh of air flattening it out underneath. Gingerly, I placed myself on the corner closest to the tree so I could admire the view without it getting in the way. Damon sat down next to me, swinging an arm around my waist and pulling me close to him. I lent my head on his shoulder and didn't say a thing. Nor did he, we sat there for about ten minutes, thankful for the view.
