····The Jock····

"Why did you help her?!" Mallory shouted at Winter. The sophomore girl flinched at her every word, sinking smaller into her seat.

"I think the question is why did you trip her?" Winter asked. I knew Mallory was going to snap at her, and I didn't want that. If we wanted to find out this murder case, we would need all the help we could get. Just as Mal raised her hand, I grabbed it and pulled her back. "Let me go, Damian!"

"No! You can't just hit everybody when they make you mad! We need Winter, Mal. You need her the most, so no hitting, okay?" I persuaded. Mal bit her lip, and lowered her hand. She sighed and turned to Winter.

"I'm doing it for Audrey." she said glaring at Winter, who smiled in relief. "Do you have any suspicions?" Winter frowned and tapped her chin.

"Well, when I saw her, it was clearly a blow from the head, but the weapon of use was missing and all that was around her were broken beer bottle pieces. I don't know if she fell or..." Winter muttered. I thought about it, then it came to me.

Then, Winter's face brightened up.

"No... No! That's good! If she was walking home--with the possibility of the death being a murder case--then the murderer would have to know where she lived! Or else, they followed her." she said. Mal nodded her head.

"So that narrows it down to..."

"Audrey was being followed or was ambushed, since the murderer knew where she lived, right?" I said glancing at Winter. She nodded with a smile on her face. Mal sighed in frustration.

"That's a good start, but we still don't have enough clues." she said. I looked at my feet, suddenly finding a new interest in my laces.

"No... wait. I know someone who might be able to give us more clues." Winter said. Both Mal and I looked up with hope in our eyes. Yes, more people to join us in our posse.

"And who might that be?" I asked. Winter smirked and stood up.

"My neighbor.
