"Jeffrey hun, please tell me you're dressed for your sister's conference." mom said. I turned around from my view of the outdoors and stared at her, then looked down at myself. A casual tee and shorts with vans. I guess this looked okay.

"This is okay, I guess." I said. Mom rolled her eyes.

"Jeffrey, I know you're home-schooled and all, but that doesn't mean you can wear whatever you want outside." mom said as she searched through my closet. My mouth creased into a frown. Why do I have to dress up perfectly to impress an  imperfect society that expects everybody to be perfect? They don't teach you that in schools kids.

"I don't even know anybody there. Why do I have to dress up for them?" I asked irritated. Mom glared at me, and I rolled my eyes.

"Well, first of all, we are in public and second of all, first impressions matter to some people. Just... put a jacket over that. Its cold outside." she pleaded. I shrugged and grabbed the nearest sweater and put it on. I turned to mom to give me an overall check. "You look like a rebellious country club worker!" she stifled a laugh. I rolled my eyes. "Anyways, hurry up and come downstairs." she said. I turned back to the window and took in the fresh, afternoon air before I jumped out the window.

"Hi, I'm Ellen Anderson, Joy's biology teacher. You must be Mrs. Brandy. Its nice to meet you."

"Hi, the pleasure is all mine."

I yawned as they exchanged greetings and advice for Joy. There were a lot of people in the halls and I watched them give me strange glances. What? Haven't you ever seen an insanely tall guy before? I frowned and started looking around. Remington high was a bit more quieter compared to when I came here. There was a heavy blanket of darkness that lingered n every nook and cranny of this school. My first guess was that girls death.

"Jeffrey, if you're bored, you can look around. I'll call you when I'm done." mom said. I nodded and started walking around. Jeez, I really was tall. Or maybe they were just short. Like Winter.

I blushed at the thought of her name. It rung in my head like heavenly bells. After I confessed to her--maybe. Sorta. It was getting harder to approach her. Like I was scared to approach her. Or maybe I was just scared of what she would say. Because after I said what I said, I ran away like a dog running away from a pack of wolves win its tail between its leg.

I reached the second floor and I looked around. There were fewer people up here. I guess sophomores cared less about conferences. Didn't keep me from loitering in the halls. I walked down the halls and made eye contact with some beefy looking guys. They were as high as my shoulder and looked like they broke bricks for a living. They even looked like they ate bricks.

I averted my eyes and started walking away. If I weren't home schooled, I would've walked these halls.

"Thank you, Mrs. Jenson. We'll see you next time." a voice said, then something rammed into me. I stumbled backwards, but not as much as the small person in front of me. I caught them by the shoulders and kept them from falling over.

"Woah, you okay?" I asked. The person rubbed their head and scratched their red head.

   Wait...

   Red head,

   Sophomore...

I pushed her away and regained my cool. I covered my mouth and 'attempted' to hide my red face.
