"What?" Jason--or whatever his name was said. I gave him a look of disbelief.
"I'm not stupid, Jason. You may have fooled others, but I'm not like the others. I know you, Jason. And I know your first name isn't Jason." I put it bluntly. If he wasn't going to be honest with me, then I'll just have to force it out of him.
"Were you looking through my files?" Jason asked. I gulped and bit my lip as I averted my eyes.
"I just... I just want to know. I hate it when people lie. I've had enough of lying." I grumbled and stuffed my face into my knees. I tried so hard to forget about my past and one it was coming back to me because of some little bickering.
"Charlie, I... I don't know what to say."
"You could start off by telling me your real name."
"I've already given up that name. I'm no longer that person, and I don't even want to hear of it." Jason snapped I frowned.
"You can't just give up your name. That's your identity." I said and Jason turned to look at me.
"I'm a shadow, Charlie. I follow people's movements, I hide in the dark and I'm the person that nobody pays attention to," he said. "And that shadow's name is Jason Snake."
"Everyone has a flip side. And I'm sure yours has a different name too."
"Why do you want to know my real name so badly? Are you really that curious, or are you just doing it to spite me?" he asked, his face suddenly turning sad. I bit my tongue. I was curious. Not just because of my curiosity, but because.... if we were going to go forward in our relationship--if there is one--then I'd rather no have anything in between us. No walls.
Well, maybe some shower curtains would be nice, but otherwise, nope.
"I just feel like we should know more about each other. We're friends, right?" I pursed my lips. Jason's shoulders slumped and he clenched his hands together.
"Why can't you just call me Jason? Like everybody else? Why do you have to be the only person wanting to pry into my life?" he asked.
"Because I want to be there in your life," I announced proudly. Jason looked up with wide eyes. His surprised look made me blush. "The last time we had spoken, I took that as a gateway to something new. Something better. I mean, we already got to know each other online, so why not just..." I shrugged, unable to finish my sentence.(A/N: Haha, I really didn't know how to finish this sentence.) Jason continued to stare and stood up. He walked to his desk and pulled out a yellow folder. He slapped it in front of me and put on an irritated mask.
"There. Everything from my birth certificate to my college choices are in there." he said. I slowly took the folder in my hand and opened it with shaky fingers. I pulled out the wad of paper that was in there and flipped through it until I found a paper that was thicker than the rest.
"Your birth certificate..." I muttered. I carefully looked over it. "Rider Jason Snake... what an unusual name." I said amazed. Jason.... or Rider shrugged and his ears colored.
"I didn't want to sound like a total punk and make people get the wrong idea, so I went with my middle name instead." he responded. I chewed on my lips and continued to look over his files.
"For how long?"
"Since the fourth grade."
I internally gasped. How could he live with an alias for so long and not tell anyone?
"Does your family know?"
"Yeah, I told them I didn't want to be called Rider anymore, so I asked for them to call me Jason or whatever. My mom said Rider was a hardcore name though." Jason laughed. I bit my lip.
"I'm sorry, I feel like I forced this out of you." Jason scoffed, so I knee I was partially correct.
"I would've given it to you sooner or later, but damn you are persistent!" Jason chuckled. I laughed and looked through my while dictionary to find a word that would break the silence--and I shit you not, I was about to blurt out 'cucumbers'.
"Well, thank you," I said, praising myself afterwords. "Anyways, I'm going to go to the hospital to visit Mallory. Do... you wanna come with me?"
My, my Charlie, aren't you bold? Hehe, I actually wrote Charlie with one of my friends on mind who is a total shut in and spends her time on Tumblr all day, its not even funny. Well, we have a lot in common and we share the same humor, so I guess I'm like Charlie too.
*Glares at reader* And just like a specific someone(*WENK WENK*) I guess a lot of people could relate to her.
And I'm sure Charlie would want you to CONMENT and VOTE too(*WENK WENK*).
Okay, don't call the po-po because of my indirect sexual harassment and bye~!!
