····The Prefect····
I knocked on Jeffery's door and stepped back. The last time I went to his house, he pushed open the door and I nearly lost a nose.
"Who lives here?" Mallory asked.
"My friend Jeffery. He's home schooled, because he says high school is too irritating for him." I replied. Then, the door opened in front of me and Jeffery grinned once he saw me. His eyes went to the two people behind me and his mouth twitched.
"Uh... hi?" Jeffery said. I smiled and pulled Jeffery inside.
"They're here about the murder. Jeffery's eyes widened as he looked back at the two. He had a very wary look in his eyes, like letting a lion loose in his house. I clutched onto Jeffery's arm and he glanced down at me, his eyes softening. "Please, I just need you to tell them everything that you know. It could really help us. Help me." I said. Jeffery's cheeks colored and he stepped back, licking his lips and turning back to the two.
"Come in. I'm sure you don't want to stand out there with the smell of blood everywhere." Jeffery said. Mallory and Damian both looked at each other--clearly confused--but shook the thought away and stepped inside the house. I was also confused. Was there the smell of blood? All I smelled was the musky, outdoor smell on Jeffery and the winter air scent inside of his house. No bloody smell. Not at all.
Jeffery's house was particularly clean, well, at least the doorway was. Once you got past where you put you shoes, it was literally like a hell house. There was dirt everywhere mixed with grass. I sighed, knowing how Jeffery was. The outdoor kind of guy. Not like fishing or anything. He was the kind of guy who would actually rolled up his clothes and fish out his dinner eating it raw.... Okay, I might be exaggerating, but he was extremely outdoorsy.
"Ew," I heard Mallory mutter. I frowned, hoping Jeffery didn't hear it. I glanced at him and crashed into a very strong build. A very hard and muscular chest with a clear 6 or 8 pack. I stumbled back and looked up as Jeffery looked down at me with raised eyes. He quickly looked set and pointed to the room next to him.
"This is probably the only quiet place in the house, so if you would..." Jeffery said stepping back. The three of us stepped into the room, which was white with many windows. There was a marble table in front of us with about 6 chairs. I quietly sat down in one as did Mallory, Damian and Jeffery. He gulped audibly and glanced up at Mallory and Damian. "I guess you want my perspective of the murder, right? But I'm just going to tell you now, I didn't see the actual murderer." Jeffery said. Mallory frowned and kept glancing at Jeffery. I knew she was still plenty suspicious of Jeffery and I couldn't blame her. It was the first time she's met the guy and he knows about the death of her best friend. Who wouldn't be suspicious?
"Where were you when she got attacked?" Damian asked.
"I was on the roof before she got attacked. Then I went inside and a few minutes later, my mom comes in and tells me there's been a murder." Jeffery said. Mallory bit her lip and leaned back.
"That takes care of something." she said. We all looked at her.
"Takes care of what?" Damian asked. Mallory glanced at him, then Jeffery.
"The murderer knew that he was on the roof and waited until he left before attacking Audrey." Mallory said. I gasped silently. The murder knew that that Jeffery was on top of the roof. If he hadn't left, the murderer could've attacked him.
"Wait," I spoke up. All eyes turned to me. "After I came home from calligraphy class, a couple minutes later, the murder happened." I said. Their eyes were still on me, but look fairly confused.
"And?" Mallory snapped.
"If I was on the same street as Audrey, then wouldn't I have been attacked first?"
