Everything I Didn't say (Lashton)

It's complicated

At the Dinner table Ashton still felt nervous. He wasn't sure why. Everyone seemed to love Jace.

"So Jace tell us a little about yourself." Anne smiled at her son's boyfriend.

"Well I'm an only child. I love music and can play the drums."

"Makes sense that you and Ashton clicked." Jason commented.

Ashton glanced at Luke who was sitting across from him. He saw the pain in his eyes. He wasn't doing a good job of hiding it. Ashton wasn't even paying attention to Jace anymore. He so badly wanted to tell Luke it was okay but he couldn't.

"Well, Ashton, I'd say you got quite the keeper." Anne smiled pulling Ashton's thoughts away from the blonde across from him.

"Thanks." Ashton said forcing a smile.

He was thankful when the attention turned to Camilla. Ashton couldn't help but notice how happy Braxton and Camilla looked. He longed for that happiness. Braxton and Camilla were all over each other and holding hands and giving each other heart eyes. Ashton turned to Jace to see him also watching the two love birds.

Ashton leaned in to Jace's ear.

"You doing okay?" Ashton whispered.

Jace turned smiling at Ashton and nodded.

Ashton felt Jace grab his hand under the table. He felt very guilty suddenly. Jace wasn't being as affectionate as he normally was. Was it because of Ashton? Did Jace think he didn't want his parents to see them flirt or hold hands. Ashton suddenly leaned in and  pressed his lips to Jace's gently.

"You two are so cute." Anne cooed causing Ashton and Jace to blush heavily.

Ashton tossed a glance at Luke who was staring down at his plate. A new wave of guilt washed over him. He didn't know how much longer he could bare to carry the guilt he felt being with Jace but Michael's words echoed in his head. "Just get through tonight...Do it for Luke."

"Why don't we head out back and I'll get a fire started in the fire place. Anne darling, could you get the stuff for the smores?" Jason spoke standing up.

"I'll clear the table." Luke offered.

"I'll help." Ashton spoke quickly not thinking. He turned to Jace.

"I'll meet you out back." He pecked his lips earning a smile from Jace.

"Okay." Jace nodded.

Everyone headed out back except Anne, Luke and Ashton.

"Thank you boys so much." Anne grinned at them.

"No problem. We'll be out shortly." Ashton smiled at his mom before she left the room her arms full of supplies for smores.

"You can go ahead, I can handle this." Luke offered.

"I want to help." Ashton shook his head.

"You should go be with Jace." Luke said trying to hide the jealousy in his tone.

"Luke, please." Ashton sighed.

"You two do make a great couple." Luke said forcing a smile.

"Just stop, okay?" Ashton huffed.

"I'm just trying to make this easier for you." Luke sighed.

"It's not working." Ashton mumbled.

"You need to act like you like Jace more. It's not very believable." Luke said as he loaded the pile of plates into the dishwasher.

"How am I supposed to do that in front of you?" Ashton snapped.
