Everything I Didn't say (Lashton)

Poor Ashton

Ashton and Luke walked quietly along the beach. They had finished dinner.

"Ashton, can I ask you something?" Luke asked after a moment.

"Yeah."

"Did you really tell Braxton we were becoming friends?"

"I did." Ashton nodded not looking up from the ground.

"Are we?" Luke asked looking over at the honey blonde.

"I think so." Ashton shrugged.

"You're different now." Luke commented.

"What do you mean?" Ashton frowned finally looking up.

"You're still very different from Brax, but you're nicer, less tense all the time." Luke answered.

Ashton didn't respond. Instead the two continued walking in silence.

"Luke, do you think you'll ever get over Liam?" Ashton asked suddenly.

"I hope so. Why?" Luke frowned.

"I'm just curious." Ashton shrugged.

"I'm not going to do anything with him. I promise it's over between us. Besides when we get back he and Zayn are making it official." Luke explained.

"It's not that." Ashton shook his head.

"Then what is it?" Luke frowned.

"It's just hate seeing you hurt." Ashton blurted. He instantly regretted it.

"W-why?" Luke asked his stomach flipping.

"I-I-....I don't know." Ashton shrugged unable to come up with a lie.

"Well I appreciate that." Luke smiled.

Ashton stopped then causing Luke to as well.

"Luke, I..." Ashton trailed off not sure what he wanted to say exactly.

"Ash, are you okay?" Luke asked rubbing Ashton's arm affectionately.

Ashton relaxed under Luke's touch.

"I just want to say I'm sorry for being such an ass before." Ashton apologized taking Luke's hands in his.

"I never gave you a fair chance. I'm sorry."

"Ash, it's okay, I was an ass too." Luke smiled before pulling Ashton into a hug.

"Thank you for allowing us to be friends at all." Luke grinned pulling back a bit.

Ashton glanced at Luke's lips when he heard a voice beside them.

"Hey, guys." Liam spoke causing Ashton to pull away from Luke quickly.

They turned to see Liam and Braxton with Jade and Camilla.

"Hey guys." Luke smiled not noticing the glare Liam was sending Ashton. 

"Hey, what are you two up to?" Braxton asked.

"Nothing, just got done with lunch." Luke explained.

"It's so nice to see you two getting along." Braxton grinned widely.

Ashton felt guilt course through him.

 

It was now seven o clock and everyone was together sitting around a fire. Jade and Camilla were there as well. Ashton sat quietly as everyone else talked.

"Ash, you okay?" Luke asked leaning over towards Ashton.

Ashton melted at the fact that Luke seemed so concerned for him.
