Harry wrapped me up in a towel after our shower, which I tried to turn down because Zayn was downstairs but of course, Harry didn't care.
I blow dried my hair and straightened it, back combing the roots to make it look bigger. I applied some mascara and some lipstick before dusting over my face with some powder and then took my new dress out of my wardrobe. I grinned at it, holding it out infront of me and then ran my finger along the rhinestones sewed neatly around the neckline. Everytime I looked at it I fell in love with it even more!
I slipped it over my head and Harry zipped up the back while I put my new earrings in.
"You look beautiful, as always." He smiled.
I placed a kiss on his cheek and he pouted when he realised he had my lipstick mark on his face and I giggled at his reaction.
He went to bathroom and I studied my dress in the mirror. My arms were bare which made me frown at the visible mark. My wound had healed well, I didn't need to keep it wrapped anymore but I was left with a shiny pink scar. Harry would always tell me it's a battle scar, something I should be proud of... but I wasn't proud of it. It will be a constant reminder of something I longed to forget. I jumped slightly as there was a knock on the door, pulling me away from my thoughts.
"Mel, It's me. Can I come in?" Zayn said from the other side.
"Yeah, I'm just about ready."
"That dress looks amazing on you!" He smiled.
"Thanks." I grinned turning my head to look at it in the mirror again.
"I came to give you this." He said handing me an envelope.
I opened it and inside was a voucher to get my nails done at the salon near me.
"Thankyou." I smiled.
"I know it's not much, but I wanted to give you something just from me, aswell as going in with the other lads. I didn't know what else to get you. You know how bad I am at picking presents." He laughed.
"It's fine, I'll definitely use it I love getting my nails done!" I smiled.
"Good, Niall, Louis and Liam have just got here by the way, are you ready to go?"
I took one more look at myself and grabbed my bag and my shoes before calling Harry and heading downstairs.
"Well would you look at that!" Louis said pointing towards me, walking down the stairs. "Princess Mel, can I get your autograph?!" He grinned and bowed infront of me.
I laughed and swatted his arm. "Shutup Lou."
"You look great." Liam smiled.
"Thanks."
I returned his smile and just as I went to put my shoes on, the door bell rang.
"You expecting anyone?" Harry called as he came down the stairs.
I shook my head and pulled the door open, shocked the see my mum and dad on the other side.
"Happy birthday Mel." My mum smiled pulling me into a hug.
"Er, thanks."
"Happy birthday." My dad said. "We didn't know what to get you so we put some money in a card. Hope that's alright." He said handing me the red envelope.
"Yeah, thanks."
"Well, can we come in?" My mum said stepping in.
By the fucking looks of it.
I really couldn't be doing with my parents right now, I just wanted to go out.
"Oh I didn't know you had company, Mel." My mum said, looking at me awkwardly.
"You didn't give me chance to say otherwise." I said under my breath.
Harry laughed quietly and wrapped his arm around me.
"Zayn, I didn't know you was in town!" My dad said as he scanned the faces infront of him.
"Yeah, well, it's Mel's birthday." He shrugged.
"Er, this is Louis and Niall and Liam." I said pointing at each boy. "And this is Harry, my boyfriend."
My dad rolled his eyes and my mum just smiled at them all.
"Not back with Jack yet then?" My dad frowned.
I sighed and tensed my jaw. We all exchanged awkward glances and Liam scratched his head.
"I'll take that as a no, you don't know what's good for you do you Mel?" He said shaking his head.
"Hey, shut-" My mum began, frowing at my dad.
"Get out. Just get out." I said pointing towards the door. "If all you've come here to do is slag off my relationship then I don't want to see you and I definitely don't want you in my house."
My dad looked shocked. "I wasn't slagging you off, I-"
"Yes you was, you was being rude towards Harry and I'm sick of it. I don't care what you think and if you knew what Jack was really like and where he was now, you'd think differently." I scowled.
"Mel, It's okay." Zayn said, standing behind me and putting his hand on my shoulder.
"What's that suppose to mean then Mel?" My dad replied, arrogantly.
Fuck he made me so angry without even trying.
"He's in prison." I blurted. "He's in prison because he killed Hannah and he tried to kill me! Are you happy now?! Do you still want me to get back with him?!" My voice got louder on every word I said.
My mum smacked her hand over her mouth and my dad just looked at me with wide eyes.
"He wouldn't..." He began.
I laughed sarcastically. "And you still won't believe me? You're a joke. If you want to be rude or disrespectful to anyone it should be Jack okay? Not Harry."
"Did you know about this?" My mum whispered, looking at Zayn.
"Not at first, but yeah, I did." He replied, still behind me.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"It wasn't my place. You don't care about her enough for me to want or need to tell you. She's right about Harry, about all of these boys. They've been there for her, picking her up on her down days and making her happy again and they've done a fucking good job. Do you have any idea what she's been though? They've been more of a family to her than you both have."
Harry patted Zayns back and nodded.
My mums head sunk to the floor and my dad turned around, walking straight out of the front door. My mum looked up once more before doing the same. When the door slammed I turned around and hugged Zayn tight.
"Thanks." I whispered.
"Don't let them get to you. Not today. Lets go and get drunk." He said into my hair and I could tell he had a massive grin on his face.
I pulled away and grabbed Harrys hand. He gave it a squeeze and smiled.
"Lets go get drunk." I agreed.
