Chapter 43: ↠Rabbit↞

Our group was quick to go on off to said place for the reason being, shelter and walls. Nothing more was needed to be said, the only con was that there was Walkers within the perimeter and out. As my bat was currently being borrowed by Maggie, who, on several accounts claims that it was an idea made from heaven at the way it is an easy kill.

But Daryl's and I's backs still continued to touch as we all guard Rick cutting a whole into the fence. After everyone came on in, Rick touched my shoulder for me to enter the compound as well. Before he joined on in too. Even this right here, this fenced in area or the guard tower was enough to be considered safe.

Our goal was just the field for tonight, and that is going to be a sweet joy once we manage it. Helping Glenn wire back the fence together was a quick task that needed to be done, and a quick drop of my cross bow to get my knife and stab the Walker right in the head from coming any closer to the opening was a score on both our parts.

Seeing Daryl wait for me was sort of sweet, until he grunted for me to get a move on.

Running with a full backpack and duffle bag on my back was tough to keep up with him, and I didn't manage until Rick was running beside me. Stopping at the large entrance did Rick go to the ground, leaving the bag full of guns to the floor.

Just looking out to the mission that is before us, I heard Rick say 'it's perfect.' Before looking off to me, and with the glaring sunlight in my eyes. I tried to picture what he sees. Of course safe haven, but I always thought about what how his mind operates.

"If we can shut that gate, prevent more from filling the yard, we can pick off these walkers. We'll take the field by tonight."
"So how do we shut the gate?"
"I'll do it. You guys cover me."
Rick was the first to speak, until Hershel questioned it. And to be honest, looking at the large pulling opening that connected the yard and the inner of the prison concerned me. What damage has been done to have all the Walker's just walking about?
"No. It's a suicide run."
"I'm the fastest."
"No, you, Maggie and Beth draw as many as you can over there. Pop them through the fence. Daryl, Blake. Go back to the other tower..."
I didn't hear the rest of it all as Daryl tapped my shoulder and handed me a rifle, dropping off all my bags did I run to follow him in pursuit of said tower. My knife was quick to kill the fallen walker on the floor, barely at the set of stairs. And the moment we were up top and ready, we motioned over to Rick.

"Ever fire a rifle Rabbit?"
"I guess you'll find out."
Was all I could say before looking into the scope, seeing Rick was a dead give away. And airing straight for the few that were rounding close to him, was a dead give away that I was firing.

As he began to run and find himself in line with a Walker, I managed to reload and fire just in time. Before doing the same procedure again and again. The second Rick had his back turned to the Walker's. I tried my best to knock them out, getting a good three or four with the added help of Hershel and Carl in the other tower.

"He did it."
I chuckled, watching him hide into a tower door. Hopefully prepared for the chance a Walker might be hidden in there as well, but the loud sound beside me had me jump back into action.

"Light it up!"
He called out, and I resumed my position. Taking care of this section of Walker's before moving on over to Carl's and Hershel's. Seeing the last one fall to the ground, my smile became wider than I've ever felt it gone before.
Even if this is it, I wouldn't mind. Get tents, make our own shelter in this given space would have been a wonderful blessing, but this. This is just step one of another grand day tomorrow.
