Aurora Blake's POV
Packing heavily weapons on this high station was I just watching for Rick, he was just standing in the woods. Easy view on seeing, but it was Glenn and Hershel that spiked my interest.
"You're not going back to Woodbury, are you?"
"No. I'm just going out there.""I'll go with you."
"No. I'll take Blake then. Blake!"
Tilting my head to further listen to the conversation do I pull my bow over my shoulders and carry the assault rifle in my hands. Joining Carl at the far side of this conversation did I just lean my hand onto his shoulder. Walking him over.If anything, he is the best chance at surviving. Especially with my growing limp and paining stomach, so I hand him the gun in my arms.
"How can you possibly think that's a good idea?"
"I can't just sit on my hands.""You went on a simple formula run and got the crap beat out of you. Blake was attacked."
"Are you saying this is my fault?!"
Tapping Carl's shoulder twice meant stay on back, having me join the conversation. Or staying silent in my case. Never wrong for that outlook of it."No."
"I did what I could."
"I know you did. Blake knows you did. I care for her like I do my two daughters...But this rage is going to get you killed."
"With Daryl gone and Rick wandering crazytown, I'm the next in charge."
He went off to continue walking. Completely forgetting about how capable I am in doing this as well. I have ideas, line the cars up so we can have clear shots to what is coming through. Instead he is going in front of the prison to scout the next problem. Hell if we can get everyone onto the roof and make this seem vacant. We could be all set."I guess I'm not capable?"
I mumble towards Hershel, and he gave me a pathetic smile in return. It is nice to see him step up and try to be a father figure for me, but it is too late for one to come on in. As much as I was okay with my stepfather, I don't think I ever told him I loved him. And I don't think I ever did.
"What are you proving?"
He continued on off in the car, having me more worried than ever. Good thing Carl was on top of everything, opening the gate to let him on out. And then the second one by Axel."Blake? He's wondering farther off. I don't think you got a chance to talk to him this morning, and I would if it weren't so far away."
I nodded. Wobbling as fast as I could off towards Carl, and he was fumbling with the keys as I turned closer to him.
"Gonna talk to my dad?"
"Don't worry about him...He's going through..."
"Things?"
Another nod was present between the two of us, but he did allow me entrance into the field. I wouldn't go outside, not for awhile I don't think. But it was far enough, especially when I spotted him across the small mote we have going on here."Rick."
Again and again did I try and get his attention, but each time I called out his name. He flinched on backwards and swirled around to look where the voice was coming from, and as he crossed over the bridge did he finally see me. And he was packing the same gun as I was.
"I wouldn't have limped all the way down here if it wasn't important. Are you coming back soon?"
I honestly didn't know what Hershel expected of me, he needed to figure this out on his own. And I couldn't stress any of this enough, I cannot be the only who sees the group falling apart. We are weak, and there shouldn't be signs of weakness if we want to survive whatever this is.
