Chapter 87: ↠FinallyKnown↞

__

As night soon fell, there was no more chance to get a leave. So we stayed confined into this one classroom like room, sitting around and waiting for whatever sort of dinner is available. I wasn't hungry. Not in the slightest.

Especially when the whole building smells like death.

"I ransacked the kitchen. All I found was one can of beans."
"Found the dispenser too, pried the door on open. They took everything except this."
Daryl took the can and began opening it, while Glenn readied the plates for everyone else. I just sat there dumbfounded that everything that had happened....Was just a dream, all that time. All that energy.

Did I die? Was that is? To relive this shitty lifestyle again with the old group?

"So we came back for cough drops and garbanzo beans."
Another scoff came on off from Dixon as he continued to open the can, Sophia's voice popped on up again. Asking for water, and before Shane could take out his share. I grabbed my canteen and handed it off towards her, her smile rang high as she delicately took a few sips. And I nodded for mom to take a sip as well.

It's been a long day.

"Curtesy of the CDC, thought I'd be having midnight snacks in my air-condition room would now be dinner...And uh. The last thing."
My eyes looked directly towards the bottle of wine, and I truly wasn't wishing on anything to see one person getting drunk this evening. So I shoved my mouth full of the fowl tasting garbanzo beans, taking my eyes off the prize.

"Is that to share?"
"Seeing as how I owe you my life. Guess I'ma go ahead and be nice to you.
Shane passed the bottle on off to Daryl, who I was still sitting beside. My legs on out before me, just relaxing out. Shocked at the level of kindness that was still between these two men drew my eyebrows to question it.

"Didn't think I'd earn the first one."
Was the only thank you he said, placing the bottle down onto the ground and trying to get it open with his knife. Looking off to Lori did she have the same horror look I had.

"Go easy on that stuff, lets not forget where we are."
"Yes ma'am."
Holding in a chuckle wasn't the best decision, especially now that I had another mouth of beans. My last beans that is, saving the chips I was given for a last divine taste. Daryl passed me back my water and I was quick to take another sip of it. Watching Dale carefully making his way over to Andrea.

"You alright?"
"Why wouldn't I be? Spending a night in a building that sticks so badly of rotten bodies I want to vomit up my guts, dining on condiments. And hoping I don't get eaten by dead cannibal freaks before dawn. What's not to like?...Thank you Dale."
Was the last thing she mumbled before taking a bite of the food, fucking christ was this eye wrenching. To know these people have been through hell and back, seeing them complain this far in the beginning...

"What's next? We need to decide."
Of course Lori's question was issued with Shane's favorite answer, fort Bennining. And I still, to this day, cannot see that happening. So lost in my train of thought did I feel a tap at my leg. Seeing Daryl getting on up with the rest of the men did I just shake me head. In turn he did not move from his position as I just followed the men out the door to meet T-Dog at the stairs. Leaning at the doorway as everyone passed around the praised bottle of wine.
