Chapter 14: MidnightWallk

Daryl Dixon's POV

As snarking as Blake has become, I genially liked her this way. Quiet sometimes, but otherwise not having any bullshit. Her reaction to me being chosen as leader for the small group put stress on my shoulder, I was always a lone man.
But when I had everyone within the group to look out for, I needed the comment she made. Especially when she only speaks to me, I think...? Or if she has to talk she will speak up.

Some people change for the better or the worse, and she just needs time to figure out whatever it is to figure out.

When I asked her to cover the flank, I realized how difficult it must be with people walking this slow, or always falling behind. But once Lori started the bullshit excuse saying we hate Rick...Well it just proves what she thinks of us.

But I was not having Andrea carry a gun, I gave it to Lori because I know from the discussion earlier that she's been to the shooting range with her husband. And that is enough for me to trust her, the other one? Not at all.

But I might have offended more than a few people when I said praying was a waste of time, I didn't take her as a religious type. Hell, the way she gutted the Walker's corpse had both me and Rick look at each other with wide open eyes.

Her way of keeping the group together was different, not everyone is looking for a whistle to look at. And Andrea completely ignored it, leaving Blake not to bother anymore, I too looked at the way her face narrowed down to the way she was holding a knife. A this point I should take that away as well.

But it was a good thing I didn't.

Because she was attacked by a Walker a few minutes later, and I wont even mention Lori just riding away on a horse. Out of everything that could happen, she trusts a random person who has the names of people within our group. It was all vague information, no names other than Carl and Lori's. But that is all I have to say on the mannor.

The last thing that drifted into my head was how Blake was tired as all hell, I noticed her pace slowed down as we neared the highway. And she took a rest behind the R.V, what else was I to do?

I handed her some food and another drink, not knowing wether or not I'm alone in the equation of finding Sophia. She's my best help at the moment, wherever she learned how to track.

That was all me trying to replay today's events, but even then that wont send me to sleep, with Carol's cries behind me and Andrea playing with a gun she isn't suppose to have. I couldn't possibly get any sort of sleep.

I looked on over to Carol, and slumped back down to my pillow. Before looking above me to see that she was having a hard time figuring it out.

So I took my bow and went outside the R.V. knowing full well she would be at the top. Like she has been for the last few days, but the nights are getting colder and sooner or later we are going to have to pitch the tent up again.

"I need my clip now."
Was all I said before she handed it on over. I looked back at Carol, her cries trying to muffled as she turned her head slightly to the pillow.

"I'm gonna walk the road, look for the girl."
"I'm coming too."
"Nah, I'm gonna ask Blake."
Her smirk began to widen once I said it. She wasn't offended like she was before hand, but I honest just wanted a moment to talk to Blake, and the bonus of actually getting ground coverage made it all the while better.
