Xyder Zephyr - POV;
"Are you ready?" Evie asked me.
"Yeah. You?" I shot back.
"As ever. Make sure you give it your best alright?" she smiled.
"Of course, but you have to fight to win it too!" I grinned.
Evie and I parted ways with her heading to the stadium while I went to check up on Satella and Storm.
"Hey there my brother!" Storm greeted me.
"What's up mop? Going back to clean the tournament floor again?" I prodded.
"Pssh. I hate you!" he laughed as he punched me in the stomach.
"So how are you holding up?" I inquired.
"Pretty fine. Since I use lightning myself, Sorine didn't do too much damage," he answered, "but Satella on the other hand...... this is the second time its happened to her...... and its my fault for signing her up in the first place. Everything rests on your shoulders now. You must win this!"
"Of course!" I assured him.
"Are you prepared for today's match?" he interrogated.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"
"You know exactly why!" he stated firmly, "Anyway, just remember that no matter what happens on that field today, YOU MUST WIN!" he demanded.
"I know that. And I also intend to keep my promise to myself, Evie and all the others," I told him, "Anyway, I'll be taking off now!"
I dropped by to check up on Satella but seeing her asleep, I chose to not disturb her. I rushed across to the coliseum witha few minutes to spare.
"Hey! You barely made it," Rydia called out.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned.
"I came to support you obviously. Plus, I have this," she said as she pulled out my jacket from her bag.
"Thanks," I said, reaching for it.
"Nope!" Rydia pulled away the leather piece. "I will give this to Regulus Xyder when that time comes. Until then, you'll have to do without it!" she teased.
"So are you ready?" she continued.
"If they continue as they have been, your next opponent is......" Rydia trailed off.
"Yeah, i know. I've come to terms with that a long time ago," I answered.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our first two combatants for the day! On one side we have the one and only Xyder Zepher and on the other, we have the fan favorite Epitome of Vita, Evelynn Zephyr!"
Evie and I marched onto the field and glared directly into each other's eyes. Our irises mirrored each others as I was born with my right eye red and left yellow while Evie had her left red and right yellow. This unusual trait was at least common to us both and we logically determined that our father was responsible somehow and yet the occurrence could not be explained.
I exhaled deeply, still troubled that Evie and I were pitted against each other. This was no doubt a cruel joke by Seraphim whom sat upon his throne like seat in the gallery looking on intently.
"I'll give that old fool a show to die for yet!" I growled under my breath.
"Begin!"
I immediately rushed at Evie hoping to gain a close quarters advantage. Evie knew many things but fighting wasn't exactly one of them. Evie quickly realised my intent and knowing that she could not keep up with me in a fist fight, she called forth a battalion of trees which bocked my punches and kicks.
