Chapter 37 - Change of Plan
Xyder Zephyr - POV;
"To kill me eh?" I thought aloud. I had recieved quite the newsflash from Sorine yesterday. It seems that Seraphim had told her to kill me and even went so far as to force the bunny girl referee whom had apparently perished by 'Demon' Xyder's hands to stand by as I was battered. Something in me wondered what might of happened had I actually fallen but why explore hypotheticals in a situation like this?
"So you're saying that grandfather wanted you dead?!" Evie exclaimed.
"It certainly seems that way. In fact, he still might," I responded.
"That can't be....... but the referee really didn't act to stop the match even when it had gotten really bad for you. Watching that footage, she hesitated even after you had limbs broken but the second you had Sorine backed into a corner, she stepped in," Evie pondered.
"Yeah. It's a shame what happened though. I would have never wished for her to die. Maybe I really should have instead," I grit my teeth.
"It's not your fault Xy. Plus, I'm sure there wasn't any cchance that Sorine would.... actually........ kill.................."
I raised my head to look at Evie who had suddenly gone silent.
"Evie?"
I looked at my elder sister who seemed to be in a trance as she stared into nothingness while unmoving.
"Evie? Evie?!" I called as I reached out for her. I grabbed her shoulder and she jumped in surprise.
"Oh. Sorry, I just zoned out for a while. I'm a bit tired with the whole God business that I'm looking into," she smiled.
"Well come on now! All of us are supposed to be meeting in the dining hall this morning," Evie beckoned to me as she walked away.
We were the last of our group to arrive although they all seemed energetic and threw words back and forth.... except for Disas. She was there.... it's just that she was playing on the console I had purchased recently.
"Come on people! We have an important topic to discuss!" Evie shouted cheerily.
"All be silent for grandmaster Evelynn!" Dagan blurted out.
"Ho, ho, ho! You know your job well my Earthern slave!" Evie laughed.
With roleplays aside, we actually began our discussion.
Suddenly, Evelynn became serious and cleared her throat, "As all of you know, we are under strict orders by the Regulus to win the upcoming tournament. As a result, we must aim to become as powerful as possible, as soon as possible. Thus I sought help from my grandfather through a call and I convinced him to give us clearance to use the Persona's Chamber in one of the lands a little ways East. This place is off course however, and if we are to make it to the tournament in time, we will need to take some type of fast transport from there. The problem is that our funds are very limited and as such we cannot afford to carry everyone. Therefore we will be splitting ways here. Some of us will go with Alva while the rest will come with me."
"Splitting?! Is that really a good idea?"
"Yeah, what is something happens? How will the others know?"
"Yeah, what if we don't reconvene?"
Evie raised her hand, silencing our loud group. "I agree that this is a risky and bold move," she stated grimly, "but for whatever reason he cannot disclose, the Regulus is determined to reclaim that piece of land. It is suspicious and underhanded but the fact is that this matter seems to be one of grave importance and you are all underestimating the urgency behind our mission to win."
