Faded runes

(Clary POV)

"Come on Izzy you can do better then this" I said as I was ducking from some of her punches.

"It's so hot" She said as she stop trying to catch her breath and wiping the sweat from her forehead.

"Maybe you should take off your sweater" I suggested to her. Izzy paused for a moment to think, then took it off and got ready to fight again. I could tell that she was moving a lot more quicker now that she wasn't as hot.

"See doesn't that feel better?" I thought about it I think this was the first time that I train with Izzy that she wasn't wearing a sweater.

"Yeah your right" She told me. We kept swinging at each other, throwing in some kicks in every now again but neither of us could knock each other off our feet. After sometime we agreed that this was enough for today and stop. As we both walked over to our water bottles we were talking about me and Jace when I notice for the first time that one her runes was almost completely gone. I couldn't remember her ever letting a rune fade since I known her.

"I think you need to redraw that rune Izzy" I said while taking a sip of water. Izzy looked down at her arm and frown. I couldn't remember the name of rune and I was trying to figure out why it made her seen upset.

"It's fine" Izzy mumbled getting her water and not looking at me.

"What rune is that again Izzy?, I'm having a hard time remembering them all" I said while laughing. Izzy didn't answer me so I grabbed her arm. The minute I grabbed it she quickly pulled away and whispered

"I think I need to be alone" before she left the room. Leaving standing there confuse.

"Hey Alec" I said as I walked into the weapons room. He just hummed in respond. Nothing unusual I thought, since I came here Alec hasn't been the most friendliest person. At least he gave me some kind of knowledge. I went over to the sword rack and started to pick out which one I wanted for our mission later on. Alec was on side of me shaping his arrows for what I assured to be also for the mission.

"Do you know where we are headed to tonight?" I asked. Trying to make some kind of small talk with him.

"Nope, you'll have to ask Jace that, he has all of the information." He told me while he started to put his brow and arrows away to leave.

"Alec" I said. He turned to look at me, he give me a look that said what. "Could you get me the sword on the top rack? I'm too short to reach it" I said looking a bit in embarrassed. He walked over to the rack and reach up for the sword. While his arm was up I notice that he also had a faded rune on his arm like Izzy did but instead it was a different kind his was more of a circle shape with something inside of it where Izzy's looked like a stick. I knew Jace had the rune that was on Izzy's arm but I didn't think he had the one that was on Alec's. Alec handed me the sword "Thank you" I said "What rune is that on your arm?" I asked as I pointed towards it. Alec looked down and ignore me then left the room. What's with all of these faded runes? And why won't anyone tell me about them.

"Jace" I said as I walked into his room.

"I'll be out in a minute" He yelled from the bathroom. He must have been in the shower. I went over to laid on his bed while I waiting for him to come out.

"I didn't know you were coming tonight" he said as he walked out of the bathroom putting on his shirt. He took the towel and ran it through his hair trying to dry it a bit.

"I wanted to talk to you about something that no one else will tell me"

"What makes you think I would tell you if they won't" He asked while smirking and sitting down in front me on his bed.
