A part of me believed blondie was bluffing when he said the police were on their way. After all, the police haven't helped even the slightest in Lilly's missing person case. It was like she vanished, they said.

I am more worried about the gun pressed to my side than trying to explain why I am here. I have already made quite the reputation at the police station, so I'm bound to at least know one Officer here.

Sure enough, not even a minute after the still nameless boy told me his mommy and the police were on the way, I could hear faint sirens from in town. There is no way they can get their cars through here, and when I saw a group of police officers walking towards on foot, it confirmed not being able to get a car in here.

"I want to say I'm surprised to see you here, but I'm not." Seamville's sheriff approaches blondie and I, but her eyes are upon me. Sheriff Walker wasn't on Lilly's case, but over the year I have seen her around the precinct or had to deal with her when she noticed me getting angry at other police.

I don't bother trying to win myself out of the situation with a toothy grin. "Someone around here has got to do the investigating. At least I got something this time." I will admit, I had put a lot of pressure on the police for not finding anything.

I can't help it. In my eyes their job is to keep law and order, keep people safe, and find when someone is missing. As a part of that, I had a little more hope that they would be able to magically pull security from everywhere to find Lilly.

She sighs at me while tightening her ponytail. "And you-" she turns to look at blondie who hasn't said a word beside me. "What are you doing out here? Especially with miss Nancy Drew here. You are suppose to be at home doing the dishes."

So this is his mom. Sheriff Walker. Now it made sense. "I was!" He defends to his mom while I try not to snicker. Although it doesn't go unnoticed by the sheriff. "But you said that you were clearing Yedanna Hills to see if that's where Isla was, and I figured out she meant this place."

I hadn't realised that the other police and people I assume to be forensics have entered the abandoned house. "Okay, and what about you?" Sheriff Walker turns back to me with her hands on her hips.

"Word got around about Yed, and I also knew the riddle." I try not to move as I speak so that the gun is safe from her sight.

"Let me guess, is words name Peter Marin?"

My lips purse and she knows her question is answered. Peter has a bad habit of telling me what he shouldn't. Some would say he is feeding the dragon, but I see it as a good thing. I have never been more thankful to be given hope with updates and news.
