As time moves on, I feel worse. My hand hasn't subsided even with painkillers that Scott Walker handed over. Although, the sting is hardly anything to compare to the dwelling in my mind.
I waited, and waited for Sheriff Walker to call her son. She hasn't. It was like an itch I couldn't scratch. If I wasn't with Scott- I'd be sitting in my car out the front of the precinct waiting for a bunch of their cars to leave suddenly and I could follow them.
"No, you're not suppose to see this one." I had no chance of even sneaking a glance at the photograph before Blondie had plucked it from the pile and shoved it to his chest.
It only spikes my curiosity. We're both seated on his sofa since the bed was in desperate need of having the sheets washed, and Scott has been flipping through a stack of glossy images.
What was odd was that I was actually interested in seeing them all. It was cute seeing the beginning of the photos where he was a scrawny little kid. His hair was more whiter than instead of his current sandy colour, but those eyes were still as green as light emeralds.
"I don't think so. If I could see the photo of you running in your backyard naked, I can see that one." I try to reach for it, but Scott turns his shoulders.
"I was four in the photo, it is irrelevant at this point." I'm assuming by what he says, that the one he doesn't want me seeing is of him older.
I try to snatch it again, but I fail. It would've been a lot easier if my other hand wasn't wrapped gently with a bandage. That way I could use both hands.
"Please? Why can't I see that one?" The rest of his photos of the teenage and adult version of him were mostly ones of him smiling in significant places. He really didn't seem like much fun like Reggie claimed he was.
They were typical mom photos. "Because only Reggie and a few old friends know about it. Mom would kill me if she knew about it. And not to mention, it's very embarrassing now."
Now I desperately want to know. The only thing taking my mind off Lilly's disappearance and my hand is Scott. Sometimes I forget that he'd managed to do so because his damned smile makes my stomach tie into knots.
"You won't let me see?" I frown, doing my best to force his guard down. "Your cheeks are red, Scott. A photo isn't going to change-" successfully, I snatch the image from his grip.
"Annalise, don't you dare." His warning is nothing to me once I leap up and walk away from the couch, ignoring the flare of pain in my sprained ankle.
