"How's it going in here?"

Like everything is back to normal, Scott taps his knuckles on the door and takes a single step into what was suppose to be Lilly's room.

His face falls from the somewhat neutral expression, to his worried one. Not a lot of progress has been made in cleaning the space up, but I keep finding myself distracted.

"Are you okay?" He asks. This question has met my ears so many times recently that I'm beginning to hate it.

I use the back of my hand to wipe away the dampness of my cheeks. "I didn't realise how hard this is. Not just the one hand thing, but seeing all of her stuff. I trashed it because I was angry at her for having a relationship with Reggie. I broke so many things, and I feel horrible for it."

Scott steps over a scattered mess of books that were in a box, but I knocked it over. "We can fix them." He gets in his knees and starts to neatly pile things.

I can't believe this is how he wants to spend his lunch break.

Some of the broken things can't be fixed, but the smashed photo frames can be replaced. "How do you want the room organised?" He asks, taking a glance at the space.

I even ripped the felt boards off the walls.

I stop myself from holding and staring at one of her photographs, and also stare around. "I don't want the room to go to waste, but I also don't want her things thrown out." She doesn't necessarily own so much, given she was fifteen and never worked a day in her life. "I was thinking about getting a small bookshelf for her books, then most of her clothes can go into my wardrobe. That way I can get a bed, and Halle can use this space whenever she wants."

Blondie's head snaps up to mine. "You want to make it a spare bedroom?"

It feels wrong to do it, but Lilly would say otherwise. "I think it'll be a good idea, unless you think otherwise. I'll have to get a new job to pay for it, unless you're willing to drop me off at the club and-"

"You're not going back to that place." He interrupts me. "I'll buy them."

"That's not fair." Though I would much prefer not to put that uniform back on, ever, it is a quick fix for cash. I can't let Scott push forward his own money for me.

"It's the least I can do. Especially after staying here and invading on your personal space." He stays persistent.

"I know I said you did invade, but I get it now. I'd be dead in a ditch or someone's bathroom if I wasn't locked in here. That doesn't mean you owe me by buying furniture." He stands and pushes a box upright while I stay seated on the floor amongst scattered belongings and paperclips that were on the walls.
