Running the pet store by myself isn't as bad as I thought. Perhaps it's because it's a quiet school and work day. There's only been one person who has come into the store and bought only a little bag of cat food.

Other than that, I've done nothing but sit on a stool behind the counter. I took care of all of the stock and organising yesterday, so really I'm being paid to still and enjoy the horrible songs from the radio which softly plays through the store.

Six and a half hours I had scheduled here. I kept eying the door, debating if I could get away with shutting up early just so I can go home.

The only thing that stopped me is the person who is still standing on the other side of the counter. He's been here for at least an hour now, waiting for my shift to end but I don't think he thought this through.

Scott Walker is leaning against the wide counter, wearing black jeans and a short sleeve white button up shirt. "How much longer?" He whines and spins so he is facing me with both his arms crossed on the marble bench.

There's something so strange about having him around. My mind keeps wondering about all the better things he could be doing other than being here and annoying me.

He should be working, studying- whatever it is that he's doing. It's conflicting having him around so much in such little time. I won't be getting use to it. He has no purpose in my life. The only reason he is here is because he's hanging around like a house fly drawn to the smell of rotting fruit.

I let out a slightly annoyed breath that I had been holding in. I've been asked that questions almost five times in the past ten minutes. "I can't just lock the front door and call it 'closed', blondie. I have to make sure the computer is correctly backed up and switched off."

The task would have been completed already if he wasn't distracting me so much. I'm a few steps away from finishing it. "I don't want it being dark before we even get there. Avoiding getting back here early hours of the morning is high on my priority list."

I press the final button on the computer to shut it down with quite a bit of force behind it. "I don't think that's necessarily up for you to decide." Like I had said to him, if he is coming with me, then it's on my terms.

My car, my rules. I have full control of the trip so he can't dictate it. I can just as easily toss him out and leave him there if it comes to it. I won't hesitate. Scott sighs and adjusts his position again. "That doesn't mean I still can't encourage being back at a reasonable hour." He waves his arms around as he speaks.
