It has been a year since Annalise Montgomery lost her fifteen year old sister Lilly in the middle of a sunny day when she was waiting in a parking lot.

Despite it being a nice and fancy restaurant, I put on a pair of high waisted jeans and tuck in a turtle neck. I don't like dressing up fancy just for a venue. Like I said, it's in no way a date, meaning no need for proper attire.
I don't care if I offend the staff. I'm comfortable in these clothes, and that's all I care about.
I had spent my day not doing much. Like usual, I sat in the spare room and stared at the walls until my eyes ached. It's a bad habit of mine. I like to think that at one point of staring so much, the answers will magically jump in my head.
But now, after showing and getting dressed, I have to leave my apartment. I'm cutting it fine with time. I hadn't even heard of the new restaurant opening, but I had seen a construct sight months ago where it is. They built it pretty quickly.
I grab my keys from the kitchen island and leave my apartment, making sure that after I've locked it, I yank the handle a few times to promise myself it's safe.
I still can't believe I agreed to this. There's no harm in doing it, but it's out of character for me. As I jog down the stairs, it feels more and more real. In the course of two days, I've spent more time with people than I have my whole senior year.
First Isla Marshell, now Scott Walker. It definitely has to be something in the air. Pure insanity.
I throw open the main entry door, practically dragging my feet as I stop down the few stairs outside it. The weather today is slightly overcast. I wouldn't be surprised if the time I get home, it'll be storming.
"I almost thought you decided to ditch." Scott Walker says once I see him leaning against the parking lot bench, wearing black jeans and a dark grey button up shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows.
He is really starting to infuriate me. "I told you I was driving myself." My arms cross against my chest, stopping a few feet away from Blondie.
He shrugs and smiles sheepishly. "I thought it would be better to save a parking space." His excuse is terrible. I think he only decided to pick me up so that he was reassured that I wouldn't ditch.
"You can definitely tell you're your mother's son." He kicks off the bench and starts to walk towards the driveway, so I follow since I doubt he'll even let me get to my car.
"Glad to know you like referencing my mom and I a lot." His words force me to remember that I had said something similar to him yesterday. I need to stop brining it up.
