A D O R I N G
A N N A L I S Echapter three:
"I swear, this phone." I groan out as I check my mirrors to confirm that it's safe for me to pull my car to the side of the road. I have been in the car for at least five minutes and it has already driven me mad.I have no doubt it's one of my parents being desperate to get my attention for something. I wouldn't be surprised if dad forgot their wifi password again and that's all the issue.
Once the car is stopped, I pick up my phone that was lying on the passenger seat and see several message requests from Scott Walker. "You've got to be kidding me." I click them open and read what he has been trying to annoy me with.
Scott Walker:
- Hey, it's Scott. I saw you in a car leaving not even five minutes after I dropped you off, where are you going?- If this is about the house, I told you I can help. I think you forget I have access to a lot more things because of my mom.
- Annalise, can you respond?
- I would at least like to be kept in the loop.
- I want to help with this just as much as you want to solve it. Why can't we combine everything we know?
- Hello?
I finish reading his spam of desperate messages and turn my phone back off. When I have a moment, I definitely am going to be blocking him on all forms of social media.
I toss my phone into the back where I hope it's vibrations won't be audible for me, and put my indicator on to move back into the road.
I can't believe Scott Walker. I never even knew he existed until today, and now he wants to butt into something so personal for me. I know he may want to help his mom, but his family are all safe in a house. I don't even know where my little sister is.
I start the car again to leave. I have a long trip ahead of me, so I can't let Scott Walker slow me down by spamming my phone with unnecessary messages. At least while it's in the back it won't bother me as much.
With anticipation drumming in my chest rapidly about getting to this address, I drive down the empty and darkening roads to leave Seamville and to get to Kemmington. Finally, after so long I have a tail to chase. For once there isn't a dead end.
Already I feel so close to Lilly. It's the closest I've felt to her missing presence in a year. I dread her fate of where and how she ended up where she is, but getting her out of it brings me hope.
