"Lis," my name is whispered, the words vibrating off the skin of my spine. Scott kisses the centre of my back. "You need to wake up."
I groan at the idea of leaving my heavenly bed. He presses another kiss a few spots higher. "I don't want to."
"You have to." He says and presses one last kiss to my shoulder blade. "We're running short on time for today. Mom called this morning. She needs to speak to us, so we'll have to get lunch a little earlier."
Maybe being locked in my apartment wasn't a bad idea. The idea of outside sounds horrific. "Can't we stay in bed a little longer?"
"It's ten to eleven, I'd love to give you a few more minutes, but then we'll be behind schedule." He places his hand on my lower back. "Besides, we have to go to the pharmacy first. Unless you're taking your chances of falling pregnant, I suggest you hop up and get dressed."
This wake up call is a lot stronger than a caffeinated green tea. Although I had lost some sleep to waking up several times throughout the night from my nightmares, all the exhaustion floods away.
"Alright, alright." I turn, sit up, and stretch. "Give me a minute to shower and get ready."
"Wait," when I begin to move off my bed, Scott stops me and leans forward to kiss me. "Good morning."
I nearly laugh. "You could've led with that."
His eyes drop for a moment, taking a quick sweep of my exposed flesh before returning to my face. "If I led with that, you would've gone all sweet and I wouldn't have be able to make myself get you out of bed."
"Well in that case, next time I'll remember to batter my lashes and be sweet to get my way." I leave him sitting there, already dressed and ready to leave.
I gather my clothes and the wrist brace I have to wear in the shower to support it. After freshening myself and changing into a pair of light blue denim shorts and a white midriff shirt which shows an inch of skin above the high waist band of my shorts- I slip on my boots, change my wrist brace back, and find Scott putting on his own shoes in my room.
"Why does your mom want to speak to us?" I ask, catching his attention while he laces up his last shoe.
His eyes snag on my shorts, then move down my legs. "I'm not sure. She wouldn't tell me." Blondie's eyes meet my own. "I've never seen you wear shorts in public."
I glance down at my own legs before heading to my wardrobe and pulling out a jacket. Scott's old denim jacket. "I can imagine it would be hot outside." I say, realising how stupid it sounds since I'm slipping on his jacket.
"It's so hot outside that I think you'll pass out if you wear the jacket." Maybe he's right. I take it back off, but hold it in my arms incase I want it later. "You look so young dressed like that."
