I seem stuck here. Like I don't want to leave. These grey walls have sucked me in to a place I don't want to be in. Hopelessness. A part of me wants to believe that the longer I sit here, the more I can piece together why this place was important to them.

Perhaps they've already been here, or they soon will be coming here. I could camp out and wait, but who knows what type of people I could stumble across. I may not always be the only one with a gun.

I stare at my outstretched legs in front of me, allowing my mind to scatter through the pile of thoughts in my head. I can't quite remember at what point I sat on the ground. But I do remember thinking if I was at the height of a child, I could picture if this place was secure enough to hold this kids captive or if it's just a storage room.

I can't figure out which it is. The desk makes no sense, yet this whole room could be a place to hide captives. It makes me sick thinking about it. A place like this could be the very same to which Lilly may be.

I hear footsteps from above, and the scary part is, I don't care who they belong to. Scott, a homeless person, a criminal, a police officer, the owner- I don't worry.

"Annalise?" It's only Scott Walker. I was wondering how much longer it was going to take him to explore that one story shop that's been already smashed up. "Annalise?" He calls out slightly louder than his whisper before, making it obvious he hasn't stepped into the hall to see the open hatch.

I release a much needed huff, preparing myself for a crashing reality. Blondie calls my name in a whisper again, only this time it's a lot closer. Surely by now that means he has stepped into the hallway.

I would call out to him to let him know where I am, but I like making his life a little more difficult than it needs to be. I see his canvas shoes making their way down the stairs, or ladder- whatever it is, with his back towards me.

Both his hands brace the sides of it, and the more I watch him slowly step down each wooden slat, I realise it is definitely more like a ladder. Scott jumps down the remaining few slats, landing in the concrete floor with a thud.

As he turns around, I push myself off the ground and start to stand. I don't trust the concrete and my black jeans so I find myself dusting off my behind to take off any residue from the ground.

"Woah." Blondie drawls out and his eyes dance over the room's entirety. "Do you think this is where they were going?" His mind processes it the same way mine had. Only I had a lot more than that coursing through.
