[ fourteen ] -- faint
A few days later...
Prudence sat on one of the living room couches, with her knees pulled up to her chest and her heavy book rested on her legs. It was opened up to her favorite psalm and her eyes scanned over the pages with heavy interest. Whenever she read her bible, she felt as though nothing else was important to her and she was sucked into her own little world.
Her sister, on the other hand, was sat on the opposite couch, watching the tele which was set to the MTV channel.
Lucy's attention shifted towards the front door when she heard the doorbell rang, but Prudence kept her eyes on her bible. Lucy got up from her spot on the couch and ran to the door, opening it with excitement, already knowing who it was.
It was Calum and his three bandmates who tagged along because they had nothing better to do.
They each greeted Lucy with a smile and a friendly wave and walked into the living room. Prudence could feel their eyes on her. She could also feel the burning glares that Calum and Michael were shooting at her.
She got up slowly, her frail muscles aching, she straightened herself out, and grabbed her bible in her hand. She silently headed toward the stairs, trying to go by unnoticed, but a boy's voice stopped her when she was at the bottom of the stairs. "Where are you going?" He asked her, "Why don't you stay here in the living room with us?" A warm smile appeared across his face, exposing his dimples.
Prudence shook her head, replying in a polite tone. "That's very nice of you to offer, but I have a lot of things to do."
Just as she was about to turn to leave, she saw the look of horror on Lucy's face and the concern on Ashton's face.
"Prudence..." Lucy began.
As quickly as she felt the warmth flowing out of her nose, she immediately noticed what was happening.
"Are you okay?" Ashton asked her.
She slowly brought her hand to her nose to feel a thick, warm liquid. Her shaking hand moved away from her face to get a glimpse of the crimson flowing out of her nose.
Suddenly, the rush of blood became like a violent stream that flowed down her face.
Prudence let out a terrified gasp and covered her face with her hands, running into the kitchen which was her nearest excape. Instead of feeling concern, Calum, Michael, and Luke found the situation to be funny and started laughing. Lucy and Ashton had different reactions than the other three boys.
They shot up from their seats and followed the sixteen year old into the kitchen.
In the kitchen, they saw her at the sink, leaning over it and breathing heavily. Lucy hurried to her side and placed a hand on her shoulder, telling her soothingly. "Everything's okay, Pru. You're okay."
Ashton watched the two of them, frozen in place. He didn't know what to do.
"Lucy..." She breathed. "I don't feel so well..."
Due to the loss of blood, Prudence's sight glazed over and everything seemed to be spinning around her. Ashton saw her sway to the side as her knees buckled beneath her. Lucy watched in horror as she began falling to the ground, but she sighed in relief when he caught her before she hit the floor. She was completely limp in his arms and her blue-gray eyes were closed. Her nose seemed to have stopped gushing blood now, but she was a mess.
"Shit! Prudence!" His hazel eyes watched the beautiful girl in his arms. "What do we do? Lucy! Call an ambulance! We need someone to come help her right now!" Ashton yelled, his eyes widened in fear.
"No!" Lucy yelled back, raising her hands up to try to calm the paranoid boy. "Help me get her back to her room. I know what to do to help her feel better."
He held her, bridal style, against his chest tightly. He didn't seem to care that his clothes was being stained with her blood.
"Follow me." Lucy told him.
She led him out of the kitchen and toward the bottom of the stairs that led up to the bedroom.
The three boys that had remained in the livingroom were now completely quiet. Their laughs had ceased after hearing Ashton and Lucy's worried shouts and they just sat there, waiting to hear about Prudence's condition.
