The three boys who were sitting in the living room watched as Lucy and Ashton rushed past them, a frail unconscious teenage girl in their mate's arms.
Luke got up from his spot on the couch and walked towards them as they headed for the stairs. "What happened to her?" He took one look at her and his heart sank, the guilt overcame him. She looked so fragile, so weak. And ever since he'd known her, he had done nothing to help her feel better.
He hadn't realized it, but he had become the very type of person he hated.
"Help us get her to her room." Lucy pleaded.
Luke nodded and held onto Prudence tightly as Ashton walked with her up the steps.
When they got her to her bedroom, Lucy pushed both Luke and Ashton out, shutting the door with lock behind them.
The seventeen year old ran to the closet, brining out a box of complex medical supplies that she didn't want the boys to see or else they'd suspect Prudence was seriously ill. She set up the equipment on her night stand and sat next to her sister, hooking all the machines into her pale skin.
There was a particular one that Lucy knew she would need to use.
It was a machine that would pump new blood into her sister's body and that new blood would have to come from Lucy.
Lucy was perfectly healthy and was the same blood type as Prudence. She had never done it before, on her own, but she knew her sister needed it. Her mother had already taught her how to do it in case an emergency were to present itself.
Without hesitation, she stuck a clean needle into her antecubital area of her arm and let the mechine take a pint of blood from her.
She had to wait out the dizziness for a few minutes, but after she felt a bit better, she hooked it up to Prudence's machines and watched the new blood go into her sister's body.

It was a long forty-five minutes before Lucy saw a bit of improvement in her sister and she knew Prudence would be okay.
She opened her sister's bedroom door to see two blonde haired boys standing out in the hallway, one with ocean blue eyes and the other with honey hazel eyes, but both wore the same worried expression on their face.
Both tried to look past Lucy, into the room, but Lucy was quick to shut the door behind herself.
"How is she?" The two boys blurted out in unison.
She heaved a tired sigh, "She'll be just fine. She's sleeping now, so it would be great if you two don't disturb her. She will need plenty of rest."
"But I want to see her." Ashton said, his face contorting into a frown.
His large hand went to reach for the doorknob, but Lucy grabbed his arm. "You can see her tomorrow. For now, just let her sleep. Come on, boys." She grabbed onto Luke's arm and pulled both of them in the direction of the stairs. "She'll be fine."
Neither of them was convinced, but they didn't know what else to do if Lucy wouldn't let them see her.

Downstairs, Michael and Calum were as quiet as mice.
The two stared down at each other's hands with guilty looks on their faces. Had they known it was going to turn out to be something serious and not some little nose bleed, they'd have never laughed at Prudence.
They both turned their heads up when they heard footsteps approaching them. "Is she okay?" Michael asked Lucy.
Lucy sucked in a breath, trying not to break down crying in front of them. She replied, "She's fine. She just needs to get plenty of rest." She shot a death glare at Calum, "But you, I am very angry at you, Calum Hood. What happened to my sister isn't a joke, so there was no reason why you had to laugh at her."
Calum sighed, "I know, babe."
Michael smiled slightly. "But at least she's okay."
"Yeah..." Lucy agreed reluctantly.
