"They would send me for the groceries when its my turn to spend time with Prudence." He complained to himself as he went inside the supermarket.

He felt like he stood out in that time of place.

There were mothers with strollers and children all over the place, but he was the only punk dressed teenage boy. He wracked his memory for the items the other boys wanted while he walked to the produce section. "What did we run out of?" He said to himself. "Vegemite. And I think Ashton wanted some more broccoli..."

"Michael?" He heard a familiar soft voice. He turned to see Prudence standing there with a red shopping basket hanging from her hand. She sent him a warm smile. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm hunting for elephants. What does it look like I'm doing?" He replied rather harshly, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Oh." Was all she said, her smile dropping, her lips formed into a tight line.

He shook his head, offering an apology. "Sorry Pru. I just never do the grocery shopping. So I forgot what the guys wanted me to buy."

The same smile graced her lips again. "That's okay. I can help you if you want."

He smiled sheepishly, suddenly flooded with relief. "Thank you, Prudence. I don't know how I could do this without your help."

"I think we'll need a shopping cart though. Then we could both put our things in there." She suggested.

The two walked around the market, with Michael pushing the shopping cart and Prudence walking alongside him.

At one point, Prudence saw Michael look both ways, a mischievous look on his face. She eyed him suspiciously. "What are you thinking, Michael?" She asked him.

"You need to do something cheeky for once." He declared with a grin.

Placing her hands on her hips, she asked, "Like what?"

"Get in the cart." He told her, gesturing to the silver shopping cart. "I'm going to push you down the aisle and then I'm gonna jump in there with you. It'll be a lot of fun." Prudence his see his eyes beimming with excitement.

She shook her head. "Oh, I don't have very good experiences with playing in shopping carts."

"Come on, get in there." He said, not listening to her protests. Picking her up in his arms easily, while she squealed, thrashing around, he set her down in side the cart along with their groceries. Since she was quite small, and she brought her knees to her chest to make room, there was just enough for him. "Its going to be fun and you're going to stop being a goody two-shoes for once."

He positioned the cart at the beginning of the junk food aisle, which was completely empty at this time of day.

"Ready?" He asked her.

"You're going to do this whether I'm ready or not." She sighed.

He nodded, "True."

Without further warning, he began to push the cart down the aisle with all his strength. As he approached the middle of the long aisle, he let the cart go. He ran in front of it and jumped inside, laughing with excitement.

He only had time to wrap his arms around her protectively before they collided with a display of different varieties of chips which tipped over on top of them and made a big mess.

Prudence began to laugh uncontrollably. "That was..." She said between breaths. "So much fun!"

"Yeah," Michael joined in the laughing.

"And now what?" She asked him.

Jumping out of the cart and pulling her with him, he yelled, "We run away before we get caught!" He held her hand, tugging her along in the direction of the exit.

"But the groceries!" She reminded him, still amused.

"They're lost now! We must continue without them. They'll understand." He told her drmatically.

They made it out of the store and decided to hide out on a Starbucks which was on the same lot as the grocery store. They sat at one of the tables to rest. Prudence huffed, "I'm going to have to come back later for groceries, this is the closest store to home and I don't have a car."

"I'll take you to a different store." He assured her. "Its my fault we had to runaway from there."

"We're outlaws." She joked.

"While we're here." He started casually. "Do you want to order something?"

She shook her head. "Oh, no thank you. I've never tried anything from here before and I wouldn't like to waste your money."

"Well we could share one." He offered. "If you don't like it, I'll drink it."

Thinking it over, she finally smiled, "Okay. But we'll use separate straws cause otherwise it would be like indirect kissing." She said innocently. He got up from his seat and she followed as he walked over to the register.

"Hi, welcome to-" The cashier stopped mid-sentence, recognizing him. "You're Michael Clif-"

"No, I'm not." He laughed nervously. "Can you just take our order?"

Realizing he didn't want to be recognized, she nodded.

Clearing his throat, he continued, but first, he looked at Prudence. "What do you want to drink, Pru?"

"Uh," She tapped her chin with her index finger, her blue-gray eyes scanned over the menu. "The vanilla bean sounds good, don't you think?" She said in a quiet voice, unsure if he liked that drink or not.

"Sure." He grinned at her. Turning back to the cashier, he said, "A vanilla bean frappe, please. Size venti."

"And for you?" She asked him.

He shook his head. "Oh, no. The vanilla bean is for both of us."

"Name?" She asked him, though she already knew what it was.

"Pete," He smirked, trying to make some sort of joke. "Pete Zahut."

Prudence giggled next to him, nudging him. "You have too much fun."
