Chapter 16:

"Levi, do you remember your previous proposition?" Shion asked.

Silence permeated that air as Shion waited for Levi to understand the message.

"Shion?" Levi questioned.

"Mmn," Shion replied.

"Where do you want to me to look at?" Levi breathed.

"I want to go home or somewhere close to it, but I need someone to keep Orion in the dark. Orion must never find out where I am," Shion replied.

Levi stepped back and thought for a moment.

"I will arrange it," he stated.

Levi didn't stop to think why Shion would be in such a rush to leave nor did he wish to know. As long as Shion was gone, his chance of losing his livelihood was much lower than if Shion was still around. He ended the call with Shion who seemed to be in a rather sombre mood and joyfully began preparing for Shion's move.

Shion released a breath of relief. 'I can finally go home to live my life' he thought. The notion of being able to see he parents again made his heart feel warm. He used the thought of his parents to draw his thoughts off his shredded heart. He turned the TV off in fear of having to hear more of such dreaded news, and instead focused on his laptop where he was sorting through e-mail. He looked through them and found an e-mail from his university friends. He felt his mood lighten as he laughed lightly at their humorous antics. As he read the final line of he e-mails, he felt his mood plummet again. Everywhere he looked, it seemed the news of Orion's unborn bundle of joy was suddenly much more interesting than an any daily activity that humanity had to partake in. He was envious at all those who could bear witness to such news without frustration and heart break welling in their hearts. He closed the internet tabs since he refused to read anymore on the topic, and began to flick through all the old pictures found in his album that had been untouched and unmoved for half a decade. He clicked the first one. A large photo of two youths with black and brown hair appeared on screen. Good looking features appeared on the brown-haired boy and delicate yet appreciable features on the black-haired boy. Their bodies weren't visible, only their faces as they smiled widely to the camera. One boy held a baton as the other waved a ribbon for first place around. This was their sports festival in high school the year they met. He clicked the next button to find a picture taken by Shion of Orion lounging on the cushions that he had collected with his eyes closed while basking in the sun. His light brown hair flickered gold in the radiance of the sun as he rested with his eyes closed and arms spread out. He looked every bit as elegant as his memory served all those years ago. Even now, five years later, Orion still exuded an air of majesty. However, his face for now more mature and possessed a tiredness that didn't exist whilst he was in high school. He flicked to the third picture. This picture was one that Shion couldn't help but chuckled at. Shion and Orion conducted a competition during lunch time one day to snap the ugliest facial expression. The entire class had gather up and a picture of their most hideous expressions. Shion stood with Orion in the front. Both stared at each other with expression of disgust and forced wrinkles with a tongue hanging out. Shion flicked through the pictures one by one reliving the memory of his happiest days beside Orion. A total of three hundred pictures were in the album. Shion smiled and sighed at the thought of never being able to experience such a small happiness again. Without realizing, time past fairly quickly. Shion was forced to slam down his laptop lid as Orion took brief steps into the apartment. The scent of takeout once again radiated throughout the air. After a week of takeaway, even Shion would find it unpleasant. The greasiness of the food did not settle well in his stomach, but even so, he ate it anyway. He stepped out of his room, and sauntered into the living room where he saw Orion ever so expressionlessly drop the food. Shion grabbed two plate and cutlery from the draws. He constantly watched Orion's expression as he set the table. Nothing changed. He acted as though the news of his child was a normal occurrence. He didn't express the intention to say anything. Each time Shion went to ask something, his mouth would open without sound. He would soundlessly yell questions that his brain so desperately wanted to know, but his heart so desperately didn't want to hear. He tore himself away from the thought of his child to eat the takeaway that was suddenly drained of taste.
