Chapter 22:
Shion stayed with his parents for the week. During this time he cleaned the place, so that although it wasn't in the best condition he'd ever seen it in, it was still enough to make him feel at ease. There was no longer a thick layer of dust everywhere. Places that were mouldy were cleaned with powerful cleaning products. Now whatever was meant to be white was white and not greying. Although Shion felt an urgency to establish a company as fast as possible, he knew that such things couldn't be rushed. He carefully planned out his plan of attack before settling each step and moving to the next. After the week of cleaning for his parents', it was now time to get started on his goal. Today, he was meeting with a potential business partner. It was paramount that he persuaded this person to work with him. His name was Lebanoski. A balding man who ran a middle-sized company. He'd inherited the company from his father, but was surprisingly doing okay at managing it. Shion wanted his co-operation in making creating some idea he'd sketched out. His new company was centred around designing and distributing technological components of certain items such as phones, watches, laptops and hard drives. Lebanoski's was a famous in the area for being able to build the small components; however, he was also known to be both arrogant and illogical.
With a heavy feeling settling itself in his stomach, Shion inhaled a breath of stale air. He stood outside the Royal Mariette hotel, the grandest hotel in the area, attempting with little success to go through his speech again in his head. Butterflies fluttered around in his stomach as it lurched with nervous sensation. He walked step by heavy step towards the entrance. They were to meet in the conference room. Despite the meeting being two hours away at eleven in the morning, Shion still stood outside dreading the moment he entered. The automatic doors glided open to signal his entrance. He exhaled as his foot landed on the expensive stone that covered the lobby floor. With two hours to go, there was no need to immediately head up to the twentieth floor conference room, so to keep himself entertained, Shion headed to the bar where he ordered a mocktail to calm his flailing nerves. It wouldn't do to swagger into the room drunk, but he needed something to keep his brain functional, and sending a surge of sugar into his system seemed to be the best he could do given his options.
The bartender raised a brow at his odd choice, but served him his colourful drink in a cup rimmed with sugar. Shion sipped the overly sweet concoction with glee as he observed the people going about their business. It was still late morning, yet already people were at the high class bar drinking. He waited for time to pass while he watched the clock and the people drinking underneath it.
A few cities over, Orion huffed as he looked at some of the reports that sat on his desk. He flicked through it as if in disbelief while occasionally raising an accusatory brow at Levi standing on the side. As if aware he was being watched, Levi glared back at the haughty man. If he had the choice, he would rather be doing all of Orion's work than his own because having to watch Orion was more difficult than trying to teach a three-year-old.
"Levi, he's gone home hasn't he? You sent him home," Orion asked.
Despite having been asked, Levi gave no answer. Levi kept his mouth shut since the answer was obvious. He knew that Shion's intenetion was to disappear from Orion's sight. He also knew that if the media found out about Shion's existance, his career could be in trouble, yet when he looked at Shion's pitiful face, he really couldn't bring himself to find a place completely free from Orion's tyranny. If Shion was lucky, Orion would find him, if he wasn't than he would live out the rest of his life without hearing from Orion again. He hadn't hidden his collaboration for that reason. He left an opening out of pity. If this opening demolished his career, he would only have himself to blame for falling prey to that pitiful expression. He raised his head to looked at Orion whose eyes were piercing into him. Words weren't exchanged, but somehow a world of knowledge passed between the two.
