Jess was watching Die Hard when he heard little footsteps behind him. He paused the movie and turned around to see Rory and Haeven. Haeven was clutching her mother's hands as she slowly took steps. She went from a strong hold, to a weaker one then eventually she let go all together.
"Good job, honey!" Rory congratulated her little girl. "Did you see that Jess, she just walked on her own!"
Jess smiled. "Yes, that's wonderful." He reached his hand out to Haeven. "Come here, sweetie." The one year old slowly staggered over to him and before falling, grabbed his hand. "That's a good girl, Haeven." Jess took Haeven into his arms and then turned to Rory. "Hun, there's something I need to talk about with you."
"What about?" Rory gave Jess a quizzical look and they both sat on the couch.
"I can't put into words how much I love you and Haeven, I consider her as my own child," Jess took in a deep breath. "I would love to adopt her with you so she can legally be our child."
Rory smiled a embraced Jess. "You don't know how badly I want that." There were tears of Joy flowing down her face as she hugged Jess tighter.
Jess felt his own eyes begin to glisten. "I'm so happy, Rory. I could imagine my life without you two."

The date was set. April 13th; the day Jess would legally adopt Haeven. They cleared it up with Logan, who was seemingly preoccupied with new women to care about Haeven or Rory and gave up his rights eagerly. It was good for the Mariano's, who wanted a quick adoption. Jess didn't want to wait.
In the court room, everyone stood around as then judge read off the rights. The judge legally confirmed Haeven as the daughter of Rory and Jess Mariano. Lorelai wiped at her eyes and Luke embraced her as they both displayed a brilliant smile on their faces. Luke nudged Jess. "I'm so proud of you, Jess. You've really raised a great family."
"Thanks, Luke." Jess went over and gave Luke a side hug.
"That's it." The judge announced. "Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Mariano, the two proud parents of Lorelai Haeven Gilmore."
