"Honey, I'm home!" Jess called from the doorway.

"What is this, 1955?" Rory laughed from the kitchen.

"Won't you cook me some supper, June?"

"In your wildest dreams, Ward."

Jess walked up behind Rory and kissed her. "Mmm, I love you."

"I love you too, how was work?"

"Ya know, the same as always."

Rory sighed. "I'm sorry, I know you really wanted that job in Sacramento."

"Don't be, I like it better here when I'm with you and Haeven. I can't stand being away," Jess smiled. "I enjoy this job a lot more."

"I'm glad," Rory smiled. "You ready for tonight?"

Jess cocked his head. "Tonight?..."

Rory glared at him. "Really?"

"What?"

"I promised my grandmother we'd go to her charity event in New Haven."

Jess's eye's widened. "Shit," He rolled his eyes. "I totally forgot. Do I have-"

Rory answered that question for him. "Yes. You have to go." She grabbed her coffee off the table. "You have ten minutes to get ready."

"Damn it..."

"Lorelai, really?" Luke sighed as he looked through his closet. "Is there really a need for me to attend this dinner?"

"Yes." Lorelai began searching for a tuxedo.

"But it's your Inn."

"How many times do I have to tell you? When you're not there, Michele, Sookie and the others go crazy. They're go all Randle McMurphy on each other."

"Why do they act different around me?"

"I don't know. They must like you."

"Fine," Luke tugged on a black and grey attire. "Meet you downstairs in 10."

"I can't believe you're making me go this." Jess complained.

"Stop whining and play some music."

Jess did as told and Hotel California came on.

"I really love the Eagles." Rory began humming the tune.

Small whimpering came from the backseat.

"Shh, Haeven. It's okay, sweetie." Rory offered.

The whimpering didn't stop, in fact it turned into a cry. "I got it." Jess unbuckled and climbed in the back seat. He almost sat down, but all of a sudden something came pounding into the car, proving in shattered glass and the small, red Prius skidding and gyrating across the road.

"Luke, slow down!" Lorelai warned. "You're gonna crash the car. This isn't Fast and Furious."

Luke paced down his drive. "Sorry, I'm just kinda ready for this to be over; the sooner we get there, the sooner it's over."

Lorelai rolled her eyes. "Cheer up. I don't want my employees to think I'm married to Sid Vicious."

"Sid Vicious?!" Luke seemed exasperated. "There's no way in the world."

"It's a joke, hun," Lorelai laughed. "You okay? You seem very tense."
