The sun peeked through the windows as Rory yawned and got out of bed. She checked her phone, 11:30 a.m...
"Rory!" Lorelai came in, running around frantically.
"What?" Rory squinted, fresh light hitting her eyes.
"Logan...downstairs..." Her out-of-breath mother pointed and was breathing heavily.
"Mom...slow down...what?"
"Logan's down there, he said he needed to talk to you."
"Oh no." Rory started panicking. "I haven't told him about the baby yet, how would he know? Oh my gosh, mom, I'm freaking-"
"Hon. Calm down. Just tell him the truth don't lie, we both know there's been way too much of that going on." Lorelai laughed. "It's going to be okay."
Rory gave a reassuring smile and headed down. She saw Logan and her emotions went wild. Not out of love but out of hurt, she didn't think he'd care about the baby. He sat on the couch not noticing Rory at first but when he did, he stood up and went for an embrace. Rory accepted but held back. "Hey, Ace." He said softly.
"Hey, Logan."
"How are you holding up?"
"Good..why?"
"I was just wondering. I knew about all the stress you were facing with the book and your numerous jobs opportunities that were turning you down; I just had to see you."
Rory had a questionable look on her face. "You sure know how to make a girl feel good." She spat out sarcastically.
"Ace...?"
"Ugh. You don't even care! You don't care that I'm pregnant and it's yours! You caused this too you know."
"Woah, Ace slow down." Logan reached out a hand, but Rory jerked away."I didn't even know..uh.." Logan felt very uncomfortable and confused.
"How would you?" Rory retorted. "Sorry, Logan. Of course, you didn't know, I never told you. I assumed you found out from someone or you came down here to yell at me." Rory felt her eyes well up with tears. "You're engaged. You're almost married, you can't stay with me. I broke your relationship up. Logan, I'm so-"
"No. You didn't break anything. I'm calling off the wedding, I don't love Odette." Logan laughed. "Forget her, I love you."
Rory resisted the urges to fall into his chest and weep. "No, Logan. It doesn't work like that..."
"What?"
"Go to Odette. I can do this alone."
"Rory, no. I don't want to be with her. I want to be with you."
Rory felt her hands trembling. "I..I can't. Y...you should g..go."
"Ace..."
"Go!" She screamed, more at herself than anyone else. "Leave! I can do this by myself! I don't need help!"
Logan looked truly depressed. He loved Rory, more than anything did he love Rory. But she wanted someone else, and he knew that. "Bye, Ace. I'll always be here if you need me. I promise."
Rory fell to the couch. She sobbed into the cushions and didn't let up in till she felt a hand on her back. "Oh, Kid." Lorelai moved a pillow to her lap and patted it. "Shhh..." She stroked her hair. "It's okay." She grabbed her phone and dialed Luke. "Hey." She whispered. "I need you to bring hamburgers, donuts, pies and tons of coffee....decaf." She hung up the phone and continued comforting her daughter. "You're gonna be okay. We are all here for you." Rory gave a faint smile and hugged her mom closer.
About 15 minutes later, Luke arrived with all the stuff. "Delivery!" He shouted as he walked into the house. He saw Rory crying and changed his tone. "Oh, uh...I'm sorry. Here's the food. I'll just go..."
"No." Rory protested. "You get to see me ugly cry, it's not fair if you leave." She laughed.
Luke hugged his step-daughter. It always hurt him to see her cry. He always felt like her dad. Way more than Christopher ever was anyways. He wiped the tears from her face. "I love you."
"I love you too, Luke." Rory felt comfort in his presence. Having him and her mom there, she knew this baby would grow up around people who would love and care for him or her.
