Sakura
When we first met Aki, we knew her as the ruthless co-Jounin of Team 7 and the younger sister of Sasuke. She never had much emotion to show. But, as we all grew to be closer, we saw just how much of a kid she actually was. I mean, a Jounin at the age of 10? A lot of the grown ups used to talk about how she was a prodigy.
But, I also knew that a lot of people feared her because she was strong and I found out later that she was also quite ostracized by other kids her age because of what happened to her previous team. Just when she began opening up to us, Sasuke left the village.
Then, we found her at the bottom of a cliff, fighting for her life. Naruto and I agreed that we would do anything in our power to help her once she comes to. But, days turned to weeks, then weeks turned to months—and before we knew it, two years had gone by.
And now that she finally woke up from her coma, I thought we'd finally have Team 7 back, no matter how incomplete we were. But, Aki has changed.
After that time we came to meet her in the hospital, she began to refuse visits from us—or for anyone else for that matter. I feel so helpless. Naruto, that stubborn prick, also tried to see her a couple times. But, even though she just woke up from a coma, Aki was still better than us when it comes to the wild-goose chase.
It feels ironic. Here we thought, we've become tons better since we finally managed to beat Kakashi-sensei. But, this situation with Aki really shows how much we still lack. Not to mention, we have an upcoming mission too. All of this is making me anxious. I just want to old Team 7 back.
But, I know that time had changed the most of us. Especially, Aki.
I can't seem to get her words out of my mind. What did she mean by Sasuke not being her real biological brother? I mean, they grew up together in the same household, right?
"Hey, Shikamaru. You were close to Aki, right?" I asked the guy one time.
"I wouldn't say that but, we did share a napping spot." Shikamaru replied with a bored look on his face.
"Did she ever tell you anything about her situation at home with Sasuke?"
"Not really, although she did mention that her family is quite complicated."
"Everyone knows that." Ino pitched in.
"I'm not sure why you're asking, Sakura. But, I think the Third Hokage was onto something. Why don't you ask Asuma-sensei?"
And that's why I'm currently on my way to Asuma-sensei. We still got some time before our mission, so I hope to get some answers before we set off. As I turned a corner, I was surprised to see Aki and Asuma-sensei walking together.
What's up with that?
They looked deep in conversation. Hiding my presence, I decided to follow them. They passed through the shopping district and looks like they're headed to the memorial stone. I tried to get in close to listen to them.
"—the Third Hokage did leave some documents in my care. He told me that if anything happened to you or Sasuke, I should show them to the current Hokage." Asuma-sensei rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"So, you've shown them to the Fifth Hokage?" Aki's voice sounded stiff.
"Well, I actually forgot all about it until you came to me. I don't think Pops would mind if I showed them to you for a bit."
"Thank you, Asuma-sensei. I really appreciate it."
I couldn't help but feel at awe. Since when did Aki sound so... vulnerable?
"Anything for you kid."
Asuma-sensei handed Aki a scroll and then left.
"You can come out now." I jolted in surprise. Well, this is Aki we're talking about. Of course, she knew I was following her.
As I came out of hiding, I saw Naruto come out of a nearby bush as well.
"Wait, Naruto?!" That idiot! What's he doing here? Well, not like I can talk.
"Really, I can't stop the both of you, huh." Aki stared at the both of us dryly.
"We're sorry, Aki. It's just... we're worried about you." I smiled sheepishly.
"Yeah! You've been evading us since you woke up!" Naruto pitched in.
"Look, you guys. I needed some time to think. Honestly, I'm still not sure why I'm back here." Aki muttered Tha last part lowly, as if speaking to herself.
"Aki, how are you, really? You keep talking about these strange things as if you hadn't just woken up from a coma." For a second, Aki looked surprised by my words.
Then, she chuckled. "You really have sharp intuition, Sakura."
"What?" I felt a little embarassed. I gotta say. Even though she's still so young, not to mention the fact that she just woke up from a coma, Aki was still the type of girl you'd envy.
She tucked a strand of her long silky black hair behind her ear and gave us both a melancholic smile.
"Why don't you both catch me up on things before I tell you a little story of my double life?"
Author's Note
Finally! The first part of this story is over! Thank you to my readers who kept on pushing me to write even though I got side-tracked a lot of times. I started writing this story when I was fifteen (around 2016) and a lot of you might have noticed that some parts of the story are really not well thought through.
Please forgive my younger self who had no idea about relationships and tend to forget that Killua and my OC is just 12 and 13 years old. Even now, I'm clueless about relationships and whatnot even though I'm already 23 (the fact that I wrote this story with my wild imagination should give you enough clue that I have a few loose screws).
Now that I'm older (slightly more mature), expect the story from here on out to turn for a more sinister twist. Really, I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this but I've come to love Aki (even though I'm giving her so much hell). So, I hope you keep on reading even though the updates are slow (yes, that's not gonna change sorry)!
