Astrid's POV
"Come, take a seat darling." Opposite to what he was a while ago, Zachary, gestured me sweetly to sit in the dining table while Damien was sitting in his right. Is he bipolar or something?
There were scented candles in the table and red wine were being served by the slaves.
"Looks like a family reunion in the middle of the night." I commented.
"It is." Zachary laughed. "Been almost a century since the three of us gathered in one table."
"Then I'm glad to be part of this most awaited moment." I said with sarcasm.
Alex sat silently beside me while Damien on the other side, had a smirk plastered all over his face while he eat his steak like he knew something I didn't know.
"Can you pour me a glass of wine, Damien?" I asked holding my glass.
"Of course, Astrid." He said and went to do it.
I gave him a fake smile not bothering to say thank you and drank my glass. Dinner with three purebloods never once crossed my mind. Not to mention they were all Somerhalder.
How did I managed to get in this position again? Right, I was abducted then I got attached to my abductor and now I couldn't get myself to leave. That was at least what I was trying to deny, but right now I can't continue fooling myself. So here I am, having an awkward dinner with his family. A family and a race I despised the most.
"I apologize for my actions a while ago, darling. But that is just how I normally greet people." Paumanhin ng kanilang ama na halata namang punong-puno ng kaplastikan. Kaya naman napagpasyahan kong sagutin siya ng parehong tono.
"Then forgive me for my behavior. That is also how I normally answer people." What you give is what you get, ika nga.
"Forgiven, now let me apologize properly." Nawala ang malawak na ngiti nito at napalitan ng isang seryosong exspresyon.
Tumalim ang mga mata nito habang nakatingin sa aking mga mata. Hindi ko naman maalis ang pagkakatitig sa bughaw nitong mga mata na tila ba nanghi-hipnotismo. Tila ba binabasa niya ang nasa isipan ko.
It took me another second to remember that Zachary Somerhalder have the ability to read your deepest and darkest secret and before I completely fell in his spell, Alex decided to speak.
"What are you doing here father?" Alex asked, putting a stop into whatever Zachary is doing to me.
Nawala ang atensyon nito sa akin at bumaling sa anak nito.
"Checking on my two sons if they're doing okay. Is that what a good father should do?" Sagot ni Zachary.
Good father, my ass. I thought almost rolling my eyes.
"You've been here last time. Let's not fool ourselves, father. We are all good on our own." Alex said, rudely. So this is how he normally talk to his father. To my surprise, Zachary remained calmed despite the rudeness of his son.
"I am also here for Astrid. I've wanting to meet her and she surpassed my expectations."
"You have what you want. You've met her. I am overwhelmed with your thoughtfulness to pay us a visit despite the fact that you are very busy. You can leave anytime after dinner, my beloved father. Might as well take my brother with you."
Zachary chuckled while chewing on his food. "You really is my son, Alex. You never changed. Still arrogant as ever. Your mother was a polite woman so I wonder if you took that after from me. "
