Life comes a great Price
Alexander's POV
There's something wrong. It's already nine in the evening and Astrid isn't home yet. Alam kong para sa kanya, maaga pa ang ganitong oras pero masama ang pakiramdam ko.
Tinawagan ko na rin ang secretary ko para i-check ang card ko kung nabawasan ba ito pero ayon dito ay hindi man lang ito nagamit. I also tried to call Astrid but she wasn't answering.
I'm growing frustrated. Hindi ko alam kung mag-aalala ba ako o magagalit but I feel both. Did she lie to me? Did she told me she's going shopping just to go somewhere she doesn't want to tell me?
Remembering she took one of my car, I called the tracking company I know and asked them to track my car. After several minutes, they sent me the exact address of my car. Nakapark ito malapit sa libingan ni Teresa. Agad kong kinuha ang isa sa mga susi ng sasakyan ko at nagmamadaling lumabas patungong garahe.
"Where are you going in this hour?" Tanong ni Damien nang madaanan ko siya sa living room.
"I'm going to find Astrid."
"Thought she went shopping."
"F*ck shopping, she didn't spend a single cent." Sagot ko na iniwan na siya.
"This means trouble. I'm coming with you." Sambit nito at inilabas ang susi ng sarili nitong sasakyan.
"Do whatever you want." I replied, getting inside my car and driving to the memorial park.
She probably visited her friend's grave but how come she's still in there when it's already late? Not to mention she didn't spend my money. She was reluctant to take my card this morning. Did she leave me again? It can't be. With our conversation this morning, she wouldn't leave me again. She's in love with me but what if she really did leave?
Cursing at the thought, I stepped on the pedal driving faster than the speed limit. Godamnit! I hated the thoughts running in my brain. It wasn't helping.
Parking the car behind the car she used, agad akong lumabas at lumapit sa sasakyan. Bukas ang pinto nito at nasa loob ang phone ni Astrid.
Lumapit naman sa akin si Damien na nakasunod sa akin. "Where is she?"
Hindi ko ito sinagot dahil nakita din nito ang bukas na sasakyan. Umalis ito at nagtungo sa mga libingan at ilang saglit pa ay bumalik din ito na nay dalang mga bulaklak.
"I saw this in Teresa's grave. Lanta na ang mga bulaklak at ang mga kandila ay ubos na rin which means, she was here long time ago." Informed Damien as I sniffed the air.
There was a faint smell of blood and I knelt on the ground when I saw where it's coming from. It wasn't Astrid's blood but I'm certain this had to do with her.
"Someone took her." Damien concluded and I couldn't disagree with it because I thought the same.
"Did father do this?" Tanong ko. He's the king now but I couldn't think any reason for him to do that.
"Father? Hindi niya iyon gagawin." Pagsalungat ni Damien kaya naman napagpasyahan kong tawagan nalang ang ama ko at tanungin siya. Malalaman ko naman kapag nagsisinungaling siya.
"What a surprise! This is the first time you called me, son." My father exclaimed happily from the other line.
"Tell me father, ikaw ba ang nag-utos na kunin si Astrid? Where is she?" Tanong ko sa kalmadong tono pero hindi maikaka-ila na kumukulo na ang dugo ko sa galit.
"Wala akong alam sa pinagsasasabi mo, Alexander. Why are you always blaming your father? You're hurting my pride you know that?"
"If it wasn't you then who—" Naputol ang sasabihin ko nang marealize kung sino. Nagkatinginan kami ni Damien dahil pareho kami ng ini-isip.
