November 1799
My eyes rolled and the surroundings seemed moving and before I knew it, I lost balance but a pair of arms catched me from falling. I don't know how long I had been unconscious but before I managed to open my eyes again, I found myself in bed and there were voices around me.
"Anong pong nangyari sa anak namin?" Tinig ito ng aking ina mula sa di kalayuan.
"Nawalan po siya ng malay." Sagot ng isang lalaki na pamilyar sa akin ang boses.
Lumapit ang aking ama at ina nang imulat ko ang aking mga mata. Ang mga mukha nila ay may bahid ng pag-aalala. Kasunod naman nila ang isang lalaking nagpakilala sa aking Alexander Somerhalder. Hindi ko mawari kung ano ang pakay niya sa akin dahil palagi nalang itong nagpapakita sa tuwing napapahamak ako.
He was like a mystery, as puzzle I couldn't comprehend. I could always see him around, like he was following me like a creep but instead of being afraid, he gave me the feeling of being safe. His presence gave a sense of protection.
He only approached me in certain occasions but most of the time, he kept his distance. I pretended that I wasn't aware that he's been watching me but I always know whenever he's around.
"How are you feeling?" He asked standing behind my parents.
"Good. Thank you for catching me from thaf fall, Mr. Somerhalder." I said politely. He asked me several times to call him by his first name but my mother always thought me to be polite and besides he seemed like he belonged to one of the noble families in town.
"I'm glad you feel better now." He smiled and I couldn't seem to take my eyes away from him. I know it was rude to stare at a man's eyes directly but I was mesmerized by him.
"Are you sure you feel better now? The physician is on his way." My father informed.
"Yes, father. Stop worrying about me. No need to call the physician." I assured and tried to sit but my arms betrayed me as they were too weak to even lift myself.
"Stop lying, Ivanna. You couldn't even get yourself to sit in bed. Look at your face, you look very pale. I told you not to go to the town today but you were very stubborn. Good thing this kind young man happened to see you. What am I going to do with you?" My mother lectured in an angry tone. She might seemed mad at me but deep inside her, she was just worried.
"Calm down, love. It's inappropriate to scold your one and only daughter in front of a young man, isn't it?" As usual, my father is always more composed than my mother.
"Your right. I'm sorry for my behavior, Mr. Somerhalder." My mother apologised.
"It's totally understandable, Mrs. Stefanov. It's normal for a loving mother to worry about her child." Alexander replied.
Pagkatapos ng ilang minuto ay dumating na din ang maggagamot upang tignan ang kalagayan ko. Tumanggi akong magpakunsulta noong una ngunit nagalit lang ang aking ina kaya naman wala na akong nagawa. Dinama nito ang aking pulso at pinag-aralan ang kundisyon ko.
"Kamusta po ang aking anak?" Tanong ng aking ama at nakapit nalang ang aking ina sa braso nito nang malungkot na humarap ang manggagamot sa kanila.
