"Aslan," Alex said, slowly approaching him. The Great Lion turned to look at her with his kind eyes. "Edmund is here."

"Thank you, Alexandra. Would you tell him to come to me?"

"Yes." She walked down the hill a ways. She saw Edmund sitting on a boulder, looking at his feet. "Ed?" He looked up at her. "He's ready to see you now."

Edmund nodded and stood up to follow her. They stopped several yards from Aslan, who was looking over Narnia, his back to them. Alex looked at Edmund.

"It's going to be alright, Edmund," she said. "There is nothing to fear."

He nodded again and went forward to talk to the Lion. Alex smiled after him and turned to go back into the camp. On the way, she passed Peter. He looked at her for a moment, a question in his eyes. Alex read it easily and looked back at Aslan and Edmund. Peter followed her gaze. She could see relief in his eyes. She nodded to Peter and continued on.

Alex found a boulder that sat on a hill above the camp. She walked to it and sat down. She pulled out her swords and picked up a stone from the ground. Laying on sword on the ground, she started to sharpen the other. She sharpened her sword for a long time until she knew it was at a sharpness that she prefered to fight with. She swung her sword at the ground and sliced through several blades of grass.

She put her blade back in its sheath and picked up the other. She dragged her stone across the metal a few times when she heard the sound of soft feet on the ground.

"You're not training?"

"I have seemed to done plenty of fighting the past couple of days."

Aslan sat down beside her.

"I want to thank you, Alexandra. You brought the children here safely and protected them along the way."

"I've been tasked with a job," she replied, glancing up to look at the Pevensie children eating together. "I, Alexandra, last of the Light Elves, pledge to protect and assist Narnia, its Kings and its Queens, with my life in times of need and in times of prosper." She glanced at Aslan. "I intend to keep my promise to do so. You know how elves are when it comes to keep their oaths."

"Indeed I do. Your family kept their oaths to the end of their lives." Alex looked back down at her sword, running the stone across it a few more times. "You miss them."

"Is it that obvious?"

"I've seen the way you look at them. You miss having that kind of relationship with someone."

"Well, I've lost all my family. It's hard not to miss that."

"Someday you will find peace, my dear friend."

"Right now I just want to worry about keeping my oath."

"Alex!" The Lion and elf looked up to see Peter and Edmund walking towards them. "We were wondering if you would train with us."

"Of course." She ran the rock once more across her blade before standing up. She nodded to Aslan. "Excuse us, Aslan."

He nodded to them, chuckling slightly.

"Go easy on them, Alex," he said. "They won't quite reach your level of skill yet."

"I don't know if they ever will." She looked at the two boys. "Come on. Let's get you two rides."

Alex rode over the fields on top of her grey horse. Edmund and Peter were riding on either side of her, occasionally swinging their swords at her. She leaned backwards to avoid a swing from Peter.
