Dan sighed as Hailey screamed and cried. She did not like carrots, but he knew they had to be eaten. He furrowed his eyebrows and Hailey threw bits of mushed up carrot at him. He wished Phil was here. Phil could always get her to eat almost anything, but Phil was on holiday. He needed a break and next week Dan could get his. Hailey screamed as loud as she could and Dan picked her up.
"Child please hush it's only a vegetable," Dan begged and began to bounce her gently in his arms. He always wanted a child, but Hailey was a lot of work. A week straight with no help is a lot of work with a child like her. Dan softly shushed her and her eyes got droopy. He then grabbed the spoon with carrot on it and fed it to her. Hailey was too tired to fight back in protest, but occasionally spit it out.
After the jar of carrots was all gone, Hailey was almost asleep. Dan smiled at her. She was a lot of work but she was also very cute. Hailey then began screaming again. He sighed, and brought Hailey into her room and got her changed. Once she was all changed, still screaming Hailey was then picked up by Dan and rocked side to side. Eventually she stopped screaming to throw up carrot as another protest against them. Dan frowned. He looked at the time, it was midnight and he had to get up at 2 last night to calm her down. She was a needy baby. Dan set her on the ground assuming he wasn't getting any sleep when she began to fuss softly. Hailey reached for Dan from the floor and Dan smiled at her. He pulled out his phone and recorded her, because he knew Phil would want to see this.
"Come to Dadda," Dan said. Hailey for the first time in hours giggled and began to crawl to him. Then Hailey stood up slowly on her two feet. Dan gasped in disbelief. Hailey once balanced walked at a slow but steady pace until she reached Dan. He cheered and picked her up, kissing her forehead.
"Hailey I'm so proud of you!" Dan exclaimed. Hailey laughed with Dan until she yawned. Dan smiled and put her in her crib.
Once she was asleep he left the room, shutting the door quietly. He climbed into bed and fell asleep, his mind playing back that his little girl just took her first steps. He couldn't have been more proud.

A/N Hey so Hailey was about 7 months old in this if you were curious. Lol carrots are not her favorite (btw I love carrots) but she walked. I know it's pretty short but I wrote this at midnight....oops. I will still have another one up on Thursday so yeah. Have a great day or night whatever time it is when you read this. Byez.
