Cranky And Sleepy

Hailey's age:2 y/o
  Dan and Phil were shopping in the store. It was thier time to pick up more things, like juice and carrots which like magic Hailey likes somehow. It was definitely watching Phil eat them. She always copied Phil. That was how they got her to eat most healthy foods. Hailey grabbed a box of cookies from the shelf.
"Mine!" She says, Phil standing in front of her. She already sounded like she was in a bad mood. Dan sighed and looked through her bag for her juice sippy cup and blanket. He knew what was coming.
"Hailey we aren't buying cookies. Put them back." Phil said it calmly and gently. Hailey had none of it. Sure she hadn't had a nap yet today, but to be this cranky was overkill.
"No papa, it's mine!" Hailey shouted. Heads turned to look at them. Dan folded his arms and knelt in front of Hailey. He hoped this wouldn't turn into a tantrum.
"Hailey ple-" Phil was cut off by Hailey's screech of protest. Great was all they could think. Eyes watched them, as they tried to calm her down.
"Dadda I want them!!!!" She screamed, tears falling from her eyes. Dan picked her up wrapping her in her blanket. She screamed and kicked at him.
   Usually Hailey wasn't like this. She loved her naps, but again that was before she was even really tired. Dan mouthed to Phil, telling him to put the cookies back and go to check out.  Phil nodded and walked away.
"Dadda please I want them!" She said between sobs. Dan shook his head earning another scream. He gave her her sippy cup, we'll tried to. She threw it, nearly hitting someone who was watching her tantrum. She looked at Dan sympathetically. At least she wouldn't sue him.
   Hailey fought to be put down, but then he had an idea.
"Hailey if you don't calm down we won't make our own cookies at home." Dan said in a light, floaty voice. Hailey stopped screaming and looked at him. Her eyes were red and puffy from screaming.
"Wreally, " she asked softly. Dan nodded. We can't today since you cried so much, but tomorrow if your behavior is better we can." He said. Her eyes fell droopy as she nodded. She curled into his chest. He rocked her side to side until she was asleep.            
  He walked over to the lady she nearly decapitated with her juice.
" I'm so sorry about that," he said picking up the bottle. She smiled at him and moved to the side to show and eight year old and a 10 year old.
"I've been there, done that. My boys were way worse." She said with a smile, handing Dan Hailey's sappy cup. Phil came over and Dan said thank you and left with Phil.
" She nearly hit someone today," Dan said quietly. Phil nodded as he clarified.
"Oh yeah we are making cookies tomorrow, I'll let you get the ingredients while I stay home with her." Phil looked confused but didn't question it. He knew Dan must of thought of something around those lines to calm her down. Phil looked at Dan lovingly. He really did have the best husband ever.
