Babysitting

Hailey held her sister, Winnie while Dan held Susie. Phil went out for groceries and the twins were sleeping in their arms.
"Dad, are you ok?" Hailey asked as Dan began to snore.
Dan woke up violently and sat upright before making sure Susie was still sound alseep.
"Whta..what?" Dan asked, rubbing his eyes.
"Dad, you seem tired. "
"Well duh. Your sisters don't like sleeping at night and it's not like your Papa and I get a break." Dan said tiredly.

The last time Dan was this tired was when they had Hailey. He forgot how exhausted he was, but then again he wouldn't change that for the world.

"Dad I can watch them for a bit. You and Papa can go out and I can play with my sisters." Hailey said.
Dan looked at her with his eyebrows furrowed.
"You sure you can handle it? They aren't easy to handle." Dan asked.
"I mean it's not like it's forever that you'll be gone. Plus you need it." Hailey said.

Dan smiled at her.
"If you really want to help, Phil and I will go out for an hour. That's it. Only if you are sure you can handle it." Dan said.
"I can! Please!!!!" Hailey begged.

Dan nodded as Phil came home.
"Alright. "

"You have our number if you need anything." Dan said kissing Haileys forehead.

Winnie and Susie had already eaten and now we're lying on the floor with toys around them, giggling.

"Bye Dad. Bye Papa. Have fun. " Hailey said playing with the kids on the floor.

Dan and Phil walked out, and Dan stood by the door.
"Dan, come on. They'll be fine. We'll be gone for an hour. They'll be fine. Trust me I'm super attached to our girls, but Dan we can't live like this forever can we?"
"No we can't. Ok. Let's go eat." Dan said.

Hailey smiled at her sisters.
"Dad and Papa are gonna be so proud of me." She whispered to herself.

She carefully picked up Susie in her arms when Winnie started crying.
"Awww baby. It's ok. Don't cry sissy. I can hold You too." Hailey said as she went to put down Susie when Susie started crying as well.
"Nonononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononomonononono." Hailey said sitting there surrounded by two crying children.
"No this is supposed to be their break. I can do this." Hailey said gently bouncing Susie on her leg and holding Winnie in her other.

The twins cries got louder as Hailey tried to stay calm.
"How can something so small make so much fricking noise!" Hailey cried with them. She stared at the time. It had only been 20 minutes.

....

Dan and Phil smiled at each other at the restraunt.
"How do you think Hailey is doing?" Dan asked lightly. He hasn't eaten any of his food and has been distracted all night.
"Babe, she's gonna be ok." Phil said.
"Something doesn't feel right. My guts telling me some things wrong." 
Look you wanna just head home? I feel like when you see her perfectly fine we can enjoy another night out. Please?" Phil said rubbing Dans hand with his thumb.

Dan nodded as they got up to leave. Phil payed the bill this time, and they took a taxi home.

They got the front door and opened it to hear the twins crying.
"WINNIE! SUSIE!" Dan and Phil screamed running upstairs. Phil shut the door behind them.

There they saw a stressed put Hailey holding two cranky babies.
"Aww Hailey." Dan said picking up the twins from her arms. Hailey ran into Phil's arms while Dan calmed down the babies.
"I failed." Hailey said into Phil's shirt.
"No sweetie you didn't fail." Phil said.
Dan pulled Hailey to look at him.
"You did a beautiful job. Kids are just assholes sometimes and can be unpredictable. Next time I promise you it won't be so bad." Dan said kissing her forehead.

"Thanks Dad I love you."
"I love you too."

A/N ahhh it's been so long! Sorry it took forever I have had writers block and been super busy with life. I'll try to keep updating often but it's been a rough month so don't expect them everynight/week. Thank you all amazing people.
