More than just a Friend-aversy

Hailey's age: newborn

Phil sat in the waiting room, bouncing his leg nervously. Dan was upstairs in the hospital room.
"Phil Lester?" The nurse asked.

She had her brown hair in a ponytail and a bright blue clipboard.
I looked up at her.
"They are recovering. Dan is in room D905. I'll be up there in a minute."

Phil practically ran to the elevator and hit the 4th floor. There was about 15 buttons to choose from. Phil stared at them and was tempted to just press them all, reminding him of that scene in Elf which Dan showed him.

Dan...

Phil held a gift bag in one had and flowers in another. He arrived on the floor and bolted out, looking at all the room numbers.

Do they have a story like ours.

One door was open and he saw a young woman and her husband. What if on their first date he took her to the London eye? And what if she kissed him first because she couldn't resist it?

It put a smile on his face.

Phil saw a couple sobbing in the hallway. Phil's heart broke.

There was nothing he could think of that would match the pain those people felt. It reminded him of when Dsn and him got in a huge fight. Dan left for a week, and when he left Phil cried for days and didnt eat. Dan came home and the first thing they did was hug and they held onto to each other so tight...

They didnt want to lose one another.

Phil kept walking. He was halfway there. He saw two girls holding hands, and they couldn't contain the smiles on their faces. They kissed lightly as Phil passed them.

What if they were announcing their relationship for the first time? What if it went well and they had this feeling in their chest like everything else they ever worried about didnt matter.

Then he got to room D905.

He went inside and saw Dan holding a blanket in his arms, smiling down at the bundle.

She was really here.
"Phil she's perfect. " Dan said looking up at him.
"Its a she?" Phil asked. Dan had the biggest smile on his face, one that you could see in his eyes. Phils heart swelled with joy as he ran up to them, dropping the bag on the floor and the flowers on the table.
"how are they?"
"Well the surrogate is fine. Recovering well. And our daughter here is better than ever...you brought flowers?" Dan asked.

Phil looked at the bouquet on the table and the rainbow bag on the floor. He got up and grabbed the bag.
"And something else. I brought flowers because it had been 12 years since we met..and this is some things I found for our baby."

Dan smiled as he handed Phil the baby who they haven't named yet. They had girl names in mind, but it didnt feel right.
Phil held their daughter as Dan looked through the bag.

There was a quilt, handmade with a bunch of bears on it, a onesie saying the Cat Whiskers Come From Within. Dan stopped and smiled. He'd known this man for 12 years... There was another onesie which was yellow and had a dinosaur on it and a couple of bottles and diapers. The last item in it was a tan bear with a green ribbon.

"Phil this is all amazing.."
"Dan what are we gonna name her?"
"I dont know. She's so perfect..and Phil where did you find this?"
Phil smiled at him.
"I been looking for these things since we found out we were getting a baby."

Dan had tears in his eyes as Phil held the baby close.
"Hailey..."

Phil looked up at him.
"Hmmm?" Phil asked.
"Hailey...I cant believe we didnt think of this before. She feels..."
"She feels like a Hailey Dan.."

They smiled at each other and held hands while they held their baby in their arms.

"Happy Friend-aversy Dan.."
"Phil this is more than a friend-aversy. This is the day we made our family. They day we met. The day we held hands for the first time. This day is about all of us now. You me and Hailey."

That's one more memory and one more story for Phil to hold in his heart.

It was much more than he ever expected.

A/N Ah 9 years ago they met and I cant! So this is something short and sweet to celebrate their friendship. I hope you guys liked it. I know my update schedule has been off and I'll try to update more often. I will be focusing on one book at a time along with this as I would love to finish some stories on here that deserve endings. That being said all of my stories will be updated real soon as I would never leave you guys who only read one or a couple of my other stories with nothing new to read.
