It's Not So Scary

Hailey's age :5 y/o

Dan held Hailey's hand while Phil held the other. Today was the big day.

Her first day of school.

"Dan I love her just as much as you do. We got her into a good school."
Phil smiled hopefully at Dan. He knew how much school can suck, but right now, kindergarten is the best. You do basically nothing. He hoped she would have a better time than he had, and Dan had.
"Phil, it's not just that. Kids say things..."
Dan spoke with uncertainty. It made Phil shake his head. He gave Dan a comforting smile. He knew how attached he had gotten to Hailey.

Hailey smiled at them with her beautiful brown eyes. She skipped along faster. They could drive, but that would mean she would get there quicker.

Dan didn't want that.

Hailey looked at Dan, who tried to look happy.
"Dadda, what's it like. I don't want to be with other kids." She spoke. Phil rolled his eyes smiling at how much like Dan she was.

Dan thought for a moment. He could lie to his child about school or tell her the truth.

"Hailey love, trust me..I hate being with other people I don't care about too. I would rather stay home with you and Phil forever and I would be happy. Right now though, you need to go to school. It's gonna be fun. Once you get past the fear and leaving us, you'll see how great it is. You can make friends, and you can have snacks. I'll tell you what, if you don't like it, I'll change schools, if you love it, you stay...deal?"

Hailey hugged Dan, and nodded. Phil smiled. He made eye contact with Dan.
'You lied even though you didn't want to...'

'I did it for you. I know how much you want her to have a better time than we did.'

Hailey arrived with her fathers to the school. Phil gave Dan a look. He knew Dan couldn't drop her off the first time. He would bail.
"Hailey you are going with Papa to class. I gotta go get you a suprise."
Hailey's eyes lit up. Dan smiled at her.
"Suprise!" She squealed, jumping up and down. She acted so much like Phil, and Dan knew it.
"Yep but you have to go with Phil. I love you so much." Dan smiled.

Be strong Dan.

He gave Hailey a hug, Hailey holding on tight.
"Hey love. It won't be so scary soon." He spoke gently. Hailey hugged him once more before running to Phil.

Dan had to get some more whiteboard markers, they were gonna film a philisnotonfire early. They phandom would love it, and so would Hailey. He was also getting cupcakes for after. He loved treating his daughter.

Phil dropped Hailey off, leaving was hard for him. He now knew what Dan meant. But Dan was able to be strong. He had to too. As much as he wanted to run into the classroom and take her home, he couldn't. He knew this was good for her.

He left hoping the day would go by fast...

A/N it has been a while. I haven't written a oneshot in forever. I hope you liked it. I had this one from my earlier oneshots so I thought why haven't I written that yet.
