Will smiled at the owl perched on a tree branch, eyeing him as he went by. He kept to the path, watching the forest around him. It was night, and he could see the stars through the leaves and branches of the treetops. He sighed, 'I have to focus.' His two brothers, Bill and Tad, had gone missing the night before after running off into the woods. He had to find them.
Will trekked on, listening and watching for any signs of his brothers. He was cold, hungry, and tired. He perked his head up when he heard what sounded like Bill and Tad having a conversation. He began to walk towards it, but soon realized that it was too close for him to not see them. He hid behind a tree and looked around. He spotted movement and squinted, trying to get a better image. He really needed glasses. It looked like Tad, but... he was covered in blood. Will couldn't help it, he gasped. Tad turned to look at the direction of the sound and saw his blue-haired brother. He held up a hand, trying to signal Will. Will couldn't understand. Soon, he didn't have to. He was pushed to the ground by some time of animal it seemed, as it was covered and fur and growling like a rabid dog. Will screamed, and the growling stopped. He dared to sneak a peek at the creature, and was surprised by what he saw. Its head seemed to be that of a mix between a deer and a mountain lion. The snout was more catlike, with the rest, including the ears and a pair of antlers, seemed to be that of a deer. The body was well-built, with the chest ripped out, blood everywhere, seeping into the fur. The rib cage showed and some organs were visible, some hanging out. Its arms resembled a humanoid's, complete with clawed hands. The legs were that of a deer, hooves and all. Its appearance was topped off with the tail of a mountain lion.
Will scrambled away from whatever it was. Tad grabbed him and helped him up. The blood from Tad soaked the back of his shirt. He felt like throwing up. The beast watched. It growled and jumped on Tad, tearing him away from Will. It tossed Tad aside, then grabbed Will and pulled him under it. Will started crying. It growled and pulled Will towards Tad, who was lying unconscious near a tree. It left Will there and bounded over. It glanced at Will before turning and tearing into Tad's shoulder, ripping out a hunk of flesh and swallowing it whole. Will turned away and screwed his eyes shut in horror as Tad let out a bloodcurdling scream. Then, it went completely silent. Will opened his eyes and looked over at Tad, dreadful of what he might see. He was soon relieved to see that Tad was okay, but... something was... off. All of his wounds were healed, even the bite to his shoulder. All the blood was gone, and... now there was a brunet kid standing in front of them, staring. Will started shaking, and the boy turned to look at him. Will started crying, and Tad was shocked and grief-stricken. Will turned to him, and he looked right back. They turned their eyes back on the brunet. He was their friend. One they lost on a monster hunt for the wendigo. They realized what this had meant. Either this was the wendigo that had took their friend, or this was their friend, turned wendigo by a bite. They waited for something to happen, for him to move, but nothing came.
Eventually, Will was pulled to his feet by Tad. They weren't stopped, just stared at. Will stuttered out the name, "D-D-Dipper?" He raised his hand as a sign to stop. They froze in place. He then looked at Will and started walking towards him. Will's heart sped up. He stopped right in front of Will. "Glad to know you remember me as well as I remember you, Will." Will's eyes widened. It was Dipper. It had to be him. He started crying again. This time, Dipper pulled him into a hug. Will buried his face in the crook of Dipper's neck, holding him tightly, as though at any moment now, Dipper was going to pull away and run off. He soon stopped crying and breathed in Dipper's scent to help him calm down. He smelled just like the forest. Will couldn't help but giggle once he pulled away. Dipper looked at him, confused, and Will said, "You smell like *giggle* p-pine trees!" Dipper blushed, remembering his old nickname. He turned to Tad, who was awkwardly standing there, staring at his feet. Dipper jumped as he remembered something he wanted to say. "Oh my god, guys. I am so, so sorry. I couldn't recognize you in this dark." Tad looked up and smirked. "Oh, I don't know... Sorry can't make up for all of the pain... but... This will!," Tad yelled as he tackled Dipper to the ground. Dipper wrestled with Tad on the ground, Will cheering him on, for a good, solid 10 minutes. He got up and helped Tad up before looking at Will. His face suddenly changed to sorrow. "Guys... I... I missed you, but... I've... got to go. I... I'm sorry, I just can't... I'm... I'm a monster..." Will looked at him with shock evident on his face, a little outraged. "What?! No! Y-You're not a monster! You're... You're Dipper! You mean too much to us!" Dipper paused, not knowing what to do. "Will..." "No! You've been gone for... How long?..." "We were 7 at the time, and we're now 20, so... 13 years? Yeah," Tad said. Dipper looked between them. "THIRTEEN YEARS?!" Will winced while Tad only nodded. "Yup." Dipper looked down. "We're... We're 20 now?" Tad nodded. "Well... What month is it?" "June." "So that would make it 14 years?" "I guess so." "Hmm... Just a few more months until I could legally have alcohol?" Tad started laughing. "Yup. That'll be the day. For you, I mean. My birthday's next week. Will's is next month, and... Bill's is in December." Dipper chuckled. "How could I ever forget? You were always the in-between-er. Will was always so warm, Bill so cold. It's honestly pretty easy to remember." Will looked down and blushed. "Yeah..." Dipper looked up at him. "Will..." "Hmm?" "You're still as cute as I remember." Will looked up, revealing his dark-red face. Dipper smiled and kissed Will gently. "Still as kissable too," he remarked. Will smiled and leaned his head on Dipper's shoulder, hugging him. "You know what else hasn't changed?" "What?," Dipper whispered. Will leaned as close as he could to Dipper's ear and whispered as quietly as he could, "You still manage to make me feel like you're the only one who could push me over the edge." Dipper, confused, pulled away from the hug to look at Will. "What's that supposed to mean?" Will giggled and started to lead the group back home. "You'll see..." Bill randomly fell out of a tree in front of them. He looked up and screamed, "OH MY GOD, IT'S DIPPER!" Dipper sighed. "Ugh... Bill..." Let's just say that Dipper had a horrible time keeping down his wendigo instincts with Bill clinging to him, but was later rewarded by both Tad and Will for not killing the blond.
