Dipper felt proud. The new cabin boy, Will, did a great job taking care of everything. The ship was as good as new. Tyrone approached his cousin. "Hey, Dipshit! You see that cabin boy of yours? Look at what he's doing now!" Dipper turned to see two pirates, Wendy and Soos, lifting up the cabin boy into the air. The blue-headed pirate was singing a song that Dipper knew well. The crew was cheering him on. Dipper smiled and walked over to them. None of the crew noticed the captain near until the main chorus had more than one voice singing it.

'A jolly sailor, bold!'

The crew turned to see their captain singing the verse. Wendy and Soos let the cabin boy down and faced their leader. "We're sorry captain—" "It's quite alright," Dipper soothed. The three pirates looked shocked, and Tyrone angrily muttered about there needing to be punishments. Dipper chuckled and held out a hand to Will. "You've been here long enough to have some freedom. Would you mind if you joined me and my cousin in my quarters? We have something we need to discuss. Your singing was quite the work of art, I must say." Will blushed and took the outstretched hand. "I-I'm happy to hear th-that you like it," he stuttered. Dipper shook his head. "I didn't like it, I loved it! Now, come on. You're lucky I don't suspect that you're stalling." Will nodded and allowed the captain to pull him along, Tyrone backing up the rear and muttering the whole way. "... Should whip the brat... Stupid softy... Don't deserve to be captain... Too easy on them..." The complaints were cut short when Dipper turned on his heels and gave Tyrone's hair a tug. "If you keep complaining like that, you'll become bald," he growled. Then, he led the two into his cabin and motioned for Will to sit next to him on his hammock. Tyrone stood in the far corner of the room. "Tyrone," Dipper started, "You start." Tyrone rolled his eyes and scoffed, but bit back an aggressive reply. "You see, cabin boy, me and my cousin here have a few... problems that we believe you could help solve." Will shuttered, and Dipper wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him closer to comfort him. "It's not anything bad, our crew was just cursed. Fortunately for you, you arrived after we were cursed. You are unaffected," Dipper soothed.  He rubbed Will's arm. Tyrone looked on in disgust. "The only way to get rid of it is to take an innocent soul and... offer them up," Tyrone continued. Will couldn't help but display the fear inside him. Dipper only hugged him more, as though trying to shield him from the fear. Will felt grateful for it and gave a small squeeze in return.

"So, as you see, you can help us through that simple ritual!," Tyrone finished. Will looked up at Dipper. The captain looked as scared as he felt. 'What if it all goes wrong?' Will tilted his head. "W-what? I-it could go wrong?" Dipper hadn't realized he said that thought out loud. He glanced at Will then back at his cousin. "No, I can't do this." Tyrone groaned. "Then I'll just do it!," he snarled. He grabbed Will and ran out of the cabin to the deck. He drew the summoning circle and began to chant a summons. A black mist rose from the middle of the circle. A demented laugh broke out just as Dipper made it onto the deck.

Dipper stared at the mangled body. It was unnaturally bent in many ways. He felt tears begin to streak down his face. Tyrone cackled. He kicked the head and laughed even harder. All of a sudden, the formerly unconscious body curled up into a ball, unbending itself. Dipper watched in horror, Tyrone in loathe. Two eyes fluttered open. Dipper crouched down and electric blue eyes shot to his face. He froze as his former cabin boy sat up and stared at him. He stared back until Will finally managed to say, "I-I don't feel right...," then passed out. Dipper picked him up and brought him to his cabin, setting him down on his hammock. He watched the sleeping form until he was sure Will was still breathing. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He was going to protect this boy with his life from now on.
