Luke smiled as he stood on the sidelines. He watched as Michael ran down the field with the rest of the team. They had regained all of their lost points and they needed two more goals in order to win.
Luke was mesmerized as he watched his boyfriend score one of the needed goals.
Luke jumped up and down, clapping for Michael, and his team as a time out was called.
"Get me a water." He heard, and Luke looked up to see the more muscular, sweaty players getting into a huddle.
"I'm not the water boy." Luke said, and Michael looked up.
"Luke, just get him a water, babe." Michael said, and Luke rolled his eyes, handing out water bottles.
Luke grumbled as he sat on the bench, crossing his arms as he realized he wouldn't get to play in this game.
Coach would barely even put him in for practice, so he definitely wouldn't be put in the championship.
"Coach, I can't play anymore. My blood sugar is too low." One of their diabetic team mates said, so Luke shot up.
"Fine, we can do this short one player. We've got-"
"Put me in coach! Please, I can help." Luke said, and pushed his way into the huddle.
"You're a professional benchwarmer. Not a soccer player," he heard someone say, so he frowned.
"Cmon. I really wanna play. I can do it," Luke said, and the coach sighed, tossing his clip board aside.
"Well, we've had a nice winning streak. That is probably going to end tonight, but you're in Hemmings." The coach sighed, and everyone else groaned, but Luke smiled, jumping up and down.
"You can do it, babe." Michael whispered, kissing Luke's head before the time was called.
Michael really didn't think Luke could help out, but he wasn't gonna tell him that. He was going to encourage Luke, even if there was no hope for him.
Luke stood in his spot, and ran with the rest of the team. He wasn't completely sure what he was doing because he never really got to practice.
The ball came to him, and he squealed as he ran, trying to find an open team mate, but everyone was guarded.
"Seven seconds! Kick it, Luke!" He heard, and he looked forward at the open goal and closed his eyes as he kicked with all of his might. He kept his eyes closed, not wanting to see what damage he had done.
He knows he costed them the championship. He's never made a goal during a real game in his life.
He opened his eyes and saw the goalie on the ground, and the ball in the net.
He heard people screaming and his team mates tackled him, all hugging him because
he just scored the winning goal.
Luke smiled as Michael picked him up off of the ground and spun him around, kissing his lips.
"I did it, Mikey." Luke giggled, uncontrollably smiling.
"I love you so much, Luke Hemmings."
Luke smiled, hugging Michael tightly.
"I am so proud of you." Michael whispered as they stood in the middle of the fans running onto the field.
Luke placed his hand on top of Michael's that was resting on his face.
"Thanks for believing in me." Luke whispered, kissing Michael's hand.
"Lets go get ice cream. You deserve it."
